New MG ZS EV 2022 450m Road Trip Part 1

Back when we started our YouTube channel at the very beginning of 2017, one of our first full length reviews featured MG.

Fast forward to 2019, and we embarked on our road trip back from Goodwood in the ZG EV, where we showcased it's range, and how it was possible to cover over 400 miles in a purely electric vehicle.

Staying true to form, we knew that an epic road trip must be on the horizon when we were given the chance to review MG's new long range version of the ZS EV. As luck would have it, we had been invited to attend the opening of Silverstone's Lap of Lights!

We set off with the intention of attending the event and coming back in the same day, rather than finding somewhere to stay overnight.

We started out with 74% battery power, and 188 miles of range, meaning we would need to stop and top up the charge in order to get to our destination. It would also be a good time to recharge ourselves!

As we were utilising the M6 Toll Road, we decided to stop at Norton Canes services, and use the chargers there. The only problem was that when we checked Zap Map App, there were issues reported with one of the devices (eek!)

We decided to stop there, check it, and find another location if needed. Hopefully, we could top up the charge and find something to eat whilst we waited.

Alas! Even though one of the devices was in working order when we got there, there were three cars waiting to use it! That's one thing that you cannot anticipate - how many people will be waiting to charge...So, after a quick comfort break, it was back to the Zap Map to see where we should go.

As we had 12 miles of range, we had a little bit of leeway, so we chose the Pod Point located at Lidl in Mere Green located about 7 miles away.

The information showed that there were no issues with the chargers, so it was good to go!

With a combination of Waze and Zap Map, we easily found our way to Lidl, and met Elmo, the Pod Point charger.

Luckily, we had used this system before, so I already had an account set up and ready to go.

We only charged for a short time, as we needed to be on our way - Silverstone was waiting, after all!

We made sure we had enough range to get us there, and a buffer to cover us finding a charge point for the journey home.

Now it was time to enjoy the Lap of Lights!

Thank you all, and enjoy Part 1 - Part 2 coming soon 😊
