Nostalgic Tunes & Music Memories

"Lord, I hope this day is good..."

... that was the first set of lyrics and tune that popped right through my mind while reading the #BoM topic yesterday. If you're wondering what it is, please check it out here.

Country music is my Dad's favorite music and Don Williams was one of those singers I grew up listening to in the mid-1980s towards the '90s when I was still in grade school. We had a dual-cassette player back then which Dad often played tapes with especially when he was cooking. And a song that stood out from my memory is what I shared at the beginning of this post, one I could hum out even on my sleep, lol!

  • Lord, I hope this day is good
    I'm feelin' empty and misunderstood
I should be thankful Lord I know I should
But Lord I hope this day is good...

I can confidently say that my old man had influenced my choice of beats, tunes or music early on.

"Wonderful Tonight" by Eric Clapton

This song makes me feel nostalgic and reminds me of the the first boy (young man) I gave my heart to in my university years (mid-90s to early 2000). He was so good at plucking the guitar and often sang this song beautifully and I gave him accompaniment by beating the table top like a drum, lol! We did duets of this many times over as he taught me how to better play with the strings. Unfortunately, the relationship wasn't mean to be and ended after a while. The good memories stayed though and they made me smile today.

"Queen of My Heart" by Westlife

I immediately fell in love with the boy band Westlife ever since I came across their album back in the early 2000. Then a young man used this song of theirs to win me over, kinda. My heart melted when he said I was the queen of his heart, lol!

I now call him my ex-boyfriend and refer to him as "the husband" or the "farmboy" in my write-ups.

"Never, Ever & Forever"

This duet by Mark Wills & Lee Ann Womack was the tune we danced to on our wedding over a decade ago. It often makes me wipe a tear or two every time it's played. Here's to share some of its beautiful lyrics:

  • How can I make you believe,
How happy I am when you're with me...
I cross my heart, I'm telling the truth
A promise is a promise, so I promise you...

  • I'll never let go of your hand
I'll always be faithful, I know I can...
I'll never stop caring, I'll always be true
    I'll forever love you...

There are many other tunes that mean a lot to me but these 4 easily remind me of those particular years in my life.

Thank you, this had been a great trip down the music memory lane. I wish you a fabulous weekend!
