For me, the role of Rancho played by Aamir Khan in 3 Idiots is very important and 3 Idiots is one of the few films that will always stick in my mind as a masterpiece.
Many would agree that the best way to criticize without angering people and to make them laugh while criticizing is the comedy genre. The movie 3 Idiots has the feature of being able to contain both criticism, laughter and a gripping story.
If I were to exemplify a scene in the movie that includes this kind of criticism and comedy, it is the words of Aamir Khan in the character of Rancho, targeting the education system. Which of us does not criticize the current education system? But when we do it seriously and carefully, no one laughs at us. Aamir Khan does it so skillfully that; We both give him the right and we burst into laughter.

Not only do I agree with this saying of Aamir Khan, but I also understand the logic in it. It's one of my favorite quotes from him. And it has an irony!
I don't know how many people know this, but it is the book called Five Point Someone that inspired the movie 3 Idiots. Chetan Bhagat, the author of the book, first studied engineering, then business, and eventually became a banker. I don't know if it is a reference to the author of the book, but I have no doubts about its accuracy.
The distortions in the education system in which the movie 3 Idiots combines criticism and comedy, its rote-based system and its structure that makes students compete with each other are presented to the audience in their simplest form. The simplicity of the film leads to a better understanding of what is meant to be told in the movie. Moreover, while all this is done seriously, the comedy side is never pushed into the background. To call the film mere criticism and comedy would be to undermine its influence and be unfair. Because, as I said at the beginning, considering the film from a broad perspective will enable to see it as a masterpiece.
If we leave aside the comedy and criticism aspects, we will have a chance to talk about other areas where friendship, love and inventiveness are exhibited. But I'm not sure how successful it is in pushing comedy aside while talking about other aspects of the movie. Even in scenes where friendship and love stand out, laughing can be considered a normal act. Because he has roles that permanently add a smile to our faces in almost every scene!
