This is my first post in the Picture A Day community. We had a bit of rain this morning so I thought I would take some photos in my garden. This is a water lily flower in my garden pond, still covered in beads of rain. My pond is quite small so this water lily covers quite a bit of it with its leaves. At the moment there is only one flower open, but soon it will be a mass of flowers.

Water lilies always remind me of my childhood. The was a large pond where I used to fish that had masses of water lilies in white, yellow, light pink like this one and some that were nearly red. I can remember hearing the carp feeding under them and trying to lure them out to catch them. I also remember watching the moorhens and coots walking on the leaves.

We some times have a frog or two sitting on a lily pad, but I haven't managed to photo them so far.
