A couple of days ago I already showed you my beautiful Yellow Oxeye plant which attracts loads of insects.
I've been in my backyard a lot these days to take macro shots.
Usually I mount my 50-200 macro/zoom lens with my extension tubes, but today I decided to mount the 18-50 with the tubes.
The difficult part of this configuration is that I really have to get in close for my shots.
With the zoom lens I can shoot macro photos from a distance of 50 cm, but with the 18-50 I have to get within just a few centimeters.
But the insects have more eye for the pollen, so I could make some nice shots.
At first I was trying some shots with the flower itself. I really like the pattern.
And this the plant zoomed out. The macro's above are from the center of the flower. This way you can see what the magnification is.
I didn't have to wait long before the first insects arrived. All of them are hoverflies.
I really like the compound eyes and the fragile wings.
The hoverflies above are Syrphus vitripennis; a very common hoverfly in Europe.
And here it is from another angle.
This last one is called a "blind bee" in Dutch, but isn't a bee either. This Eristalis tenax is also a common drone fly.
I hope you like my shots!

Photographing is my passion. Although I like photography in general, nature photography is one of my favourite subjects. I often go out with my camera for a hike to capture the beauty of nature.
I'm sharing my photos on Hive, Noise.Cash & APPICS.
I would love to read what you think of my photos in the comments.
