How to Make Canai Bread

Well, on this Thursday, Ema and I will share a recipe for bread from India. This bread, called roti canai, is made from bread dough soaked in cooking oil. The way of serving this bread is also unique, you can eat it with goat curry or with sugar. Well, the ingredients you have to prepare to make this roti canai are very simple and you can buy all the ingredients for this recipe at the nearest supermarket or market in your city. The first ingredients you have to prepare are margarine, cooking oil, milk, baking powder, sugar, salt and flour. after you have prepared all the ingredients, now let's start the first step.

The first step, what you have to do first is prepare a place and put 280gram flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder, half a teaspoon salt and 2 tablespoons sugar. After that, stir the dry mixture until well blended.

the second step, after the dry dough has been stirred until well blended, then all you have to do is add 120 ml of liquid milk and then knead the dough by hand until it is half smooth.

the third step, after the dough has been kneaded until half smooth, then prepare the work mat and put the dough on the work mat. then, put 2 tablespoons of margarine on top of the dough and knead again until the dough is smooth and well mixed.

the fourth step, after the dough has been kneaded until it is well mixed and smooth, then cover the dough with a clean cloth and leave for about 20 or 30 minutes so that the dough is more flexible.

the fifth step, after the dough has been left for 30 minutes, the next thing you have to do is cut the dough into 8 parts with the same weight and size. You can adjust the pieces according to your wishes.

the sixth step, after the dough has been cut into several parts, then prepare a place and the dough into that place. then, put the cooking oil until the dough is submerged and leave it for about 4 or 6 hours. Don't forget to cover the place so that the flies don't get into the dough.

seventh step, after the dough has been left for 6 hours, the next thing you have to do is flatten the dough by rolling it until it is completely flat like the photo above. repeat until all dough is done.

the eighth step, after the dough has been flattened, then fold the dough to form a fan fold like the photo above. repeat until all the dough has been folded.

the ninth step, after you have folded all the dough like the previous photo, then roll the dough into a round like the photo above. Repeat until all the dough has been rolled.

the tenth step, after all the dough has been rolled in a circle, then arrange the dough on a baking sheet and cover the dough for about 15 minutes so that the dough is more relaxed.

the eleventh step, after the dough has been left for 15 minutes, then flatten the dough to the level of thickness according to your wishes. Repeat this step until all the dough has been flattened.

the last step, after you have flattened the dough to completion, then prepare a pan and put a little margarine into the pan. then, put the dough into the pan and bake until both sides are brown. repeat until all the dough is finished baking on low heat.

and finally, you can serve roti canai for your friends and family. You can sprinkle this roti canai with sugar or eat this roti canai with your favorite type of curry.
