PARADISE WITHIN. pob-wotw, #16

This is the story of a young man who grew up to see the bright side of every situation around him and every position he finds himself, though the world he found himself wasn’t a perfect one, but he created his own paradise out of it.

I wasn’t born with a silver spoon, I grew up in a part of the world where people have to adapt to harsh conditions every single day, a world where an average man can barely feed two times a day, a world where workers are being deprived of their salaries after thirty days of hard work.

As I grew up, father had to take jobs from three different places just to make sure his children gets good education in the best condition he can offer. Along the line, father passed and things became more difficult. At first, it looked as if it was the end but as time goes on, we started to learn how to survive without him.

I gained an admission into the university with all the support I could get from my mother and sisters. Although they did their best for me, I had to understand that my sisters have their own expenses, and children they cater for, I also had to understand that as a young man, I won’t be depending on my sisters for every, so I started to do some works aside education to avoid calling home for every single need that arises.

With the economical situation of the country, most times I get underpaid for a job well done, and with the value of our currency, I hardly account for my little earnings as things gets more expensive each and every day.

Some times I see rich kids driving expensive cars and living luxurious lives, but I would never let myself wallow in sadness. I always tell myself that things can only get better. Instead of creating low self-esteem, I would thank God, for the situation I had found myself is someone else’s prayer point.

The fact is, no matter how high one finds himself, he will always see people who appear to be in a better position. The more he strives to get to the top , the more he sees people who appear to live a better life in higher positions. If one compares himself with others, he might never find joy.

When people asks me for the reasons why I appear to be always happy and unbothered about the ups and downs, I do say that I appreciate the life I am living no matter what others are enjoying, i also tell them that my life has been the best thing that has happened to me.

Living an enviable and convenient life, with peace of mind and happiness, knowing fully well that tomorrow has better things installed for me…
This is the paradise I live in.

Just like I do say to myself, things has always gotten better with me, the paradise in me keeps reflecting in my daily activities. I believe that with my attitude towards appreciating what life has brought my way, and appreciating who I am, the best days are yet to come.

Thank you for reading through my contest for the word of the week #016. God bless.
