Cinnamon Cup Coffee - Beauvale Priory, Peacocks and Ruins!

We called in at Beauvale Priory for a coffee and a bite to eat.
We've never been to the Priory before so we were looking forward to it. According to their website it was originally built for the Carthusian order of monks in 1343, which has now been turned into the lovely 'Gatehouse Tearooms'.

Before we went into the tearooms, we bumped into the owner who told us to go up to the cottage where he lives and we will see the peacocks and peahens in his garden. It was very nice of him. Most business owners want their privacy but he was very friendly. Unfortunately, the peacocks weren't in the mood to display their lovely tail feathers so we hot footed it to the tearooms.

It was very busy inside but nice to see that they also welcomed dogs. The area is popular with dog walkers so it makes good business sense. We ordered a veggie breakfast, ham and cheese toastie with a black americano coffee and a latte.

Next to the cottage was an old ruin that they call the 'The Prior’s House'. The monks would have had their communal meals there. I do like a ruin!

Overall, we found it to be a great little tearoom. It was in an ideal setting, just off the beaten track in the countryside. I really enjoyed the history attached to it as well.
