Hoy quiero compartir con ustedes parte de la experiencia vivida en la segunda Evaluación Médica que le realizaron a mi pequeño hijo, no porque esté enfermo, si no para evaluar su desarrollo sensorial, social y psicomotriz, de esta manera ver si sus conductas son de un niño "normal" o si presenta alguna alerta por un trastorno en su desarrollo.

Como les comentaba en la publicación pasada, está evaluación mi esposo y yo decidimos hacérsela a Joaquín, no por ser padres maniáticos o estar viendo cosas donde no las hay, si no por prevenir y saber si existe alguna posibilidad de que sea autista, debido a que nuestra segunda hija tiene esta condición.

Today I want to share with you part of the experience lived in the second Medical Evaluation that my little son had, not because he is sick, but to evaluate his sensory, social and psychomotor development, in this way to see if his behaviors are of a "normal" child or if he presents any alert for a disorder in his development.

As I mentioned in the last publication, my husband and I decided to do this evaluation on Joaquin, not because we are manic parents or because we are seeing things where there are none, but to prevent and to know if there is any possibility that he is autistic, since our second daughter has this condition.

Cabe destacar que como mi hijo nació en el 2020 un año bastante difícil debido a la pandemia por COVID-19, fue un niño que durante su primer año de vida, muy poco socializó, fue a eventos o lugares donde hubieran muchas personas o niños y esto también ha afectado algunas conductas en su desarrollo.

A pesar de todo esto y que a veces su infancia es limitada, ya que algunos materiales didácticos o muebles para estimulación temprana son algo costosos, él es un niño inteligente y que ha demostrado saber muchas cosas, cosas que aprende con sus juguetes y con lo que le damos para estimular ese desarrollo.

It should be noted that since my son was born in 2020, a very difficult year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he was a child who during his first year of life, socialized very little, went to events or places where there were many people or children and this has also affected some behaviors in his development.

In spite of all this and that sometimes his childhood is limited, since some didactic materials or furniture for early stimulation are somewhat expensive, he is an intelligent child and has shown to know many things, things that he learns with his toys and with what we give him to stimulate that development.

En esta evaluación, trabajó con una psicoterapeuta y una psicóloga distintas a la vez anterior. Ellas estaban felices de ver lo rápido que mi hijo se adaptaba a realizar alguna actividad. Esto es gracias a que en casa, él juega con aros y haciendo torres, así que ya fue con una base y además es algo que le gusta.

Otra de las actividades favoritas de Joaquín es jugar con legos y esto fue lo que realmente llamó mi atención y la de mi esposo, que el ordena los legos por fichas, es decir, une las de uno con las de uno, las de dos con las de dos y rara vez las mezcla. A él le gusta jugar y ser ordenado al hacerlo.

In this evaluation, he worked with a different psychotherapist and psychologist than the previous time. They were happy to see how quickly my son adapted to doing some activity. This is thanks to the fact that at home, he plays with hoops and making towers, so he already had a base and it is something he enjoys.

Another of Joaquin's favorite activities is playing with legos and this is what really caught my attention and my husband's, that he orders the legos by pieces, that is, he joins the ones with the ones, the twos with the twos and rarely mixes them up. He likes to play and be neat in doing so.

Como resultados en esta evaluación, su psicoterapeuta dijo que lo vió muy bien en cuanto a su desarrollo. Ya probamos que si le gustan y tolera algunas texturas, sabe que otras pueden ser desagradables, pero mi pequeño aún no sigue órdenes y cuando se concentra en una actividad, le cuesta prestar atención ante el llamado de su nombre.

Lo que si me dijeron es que tiene que tratarse su conducta, ya que dicho lo anterior, si le quitas algo que le gusta para darle otra actividad o si quieres que haga algo que no le gusta, toma una mala actitud al punto de mover sus piernas y quejarse un poco. Esto puede deberse a que es el más pequeño y por ende consentido.

As a result of this evaluation, his psychotherapist said she saw him doing very well developmentally. We already proved that if he likes and tolerates some textures, he knows that others can be unpleasant, but my little boy still does not follow orders and when he concentrates on an activity, it is hard for him to pay attention to the call of his name.

What I was told is that his behavior needs to be treated, because that being said, if you take away something he likes to give him another activity or if you want him to do something he doesn't like, he takes a bad attitude to the point of moving his legs and whining a bit. This may be because he is the smallest and therefore spoiled.

A pesar de eso, Joaquín es un niño independiente, come solo y ya busca usar la cuchara y el cubierto. Agarra con sus manos el vaso para beber agua o jugo, realiza actividades acorde a su edad y otras que debe aprender, como ir al baño y hablar, ya que solo dice: agua, papá y mamá, pocas veces.

Aún nos falta una evaluación final, que es la entrevista familiar para así poder saber o tener resultados completos de la evaluación en general, sin embargo un diagnóstico completo sobre cualquier condición que él u otro niño pudieran tener, se conoce realmente es a la edad de 5 años. Pero independientemente de eso y de que exista la posibilidad o no, es importante en el bebé la estimulación temprana.

In spite of this, Joaquín is an independent child, he eats by himself and already tries to use the spoon and cutlery. He holds the glass with his hands to drink water or juice, performs activities according to his age and others that he must learn, such as going to the bathroom and talking, since he only says: water, daddy and mommy, a few times.

We still need a final evaluation, which is the family interview in order to know or have complete results of the evaluation in general, however a complete diagnosis of any condition that he or any other child may have, is really known at the age of 5 years. But regardless of that and whether there is a possibility or not, early stimulation is important in the baby.
