It Has Been A Lovely Weekend So far

Hello everyone, what do you guys do this weekend, do you have any exciting plans or activities? I've had a pretty exciting one so far.

This weekend, for people who live in Wellington region, we all get an extra day off because it's Wellington's anniversary on Monday. Our office has a tradition of closing early at 3 pm on a Friday before a long weekend so everyone will have more time to enjoy the long weekend. For me, it was awesome because I had a catchup with @forykw. We just happen to know each other through Hive and a friend of mine was thinking about signing up so it would be a great opportunity for both of us to learn more about Hive from him.

Yesterday was a wonderful day so we decided to see each other at a beautiful rooftop bar in the city. As I finished my day a bit early, I decided to go straight to the bar as it is often very crowded later on and we wouldn't be able to get a table.

I was so lucky to arrive in this bar early

Not too long until my partner and my friend arrived

Honestly, I've been on Hive for a while, but I've only focused on Blogging and haven't explored other aspects yet. So it will be difficult to explain everything to my friend in detail and in a way that is easy for her to understand. The conversation with @forykw had helped my friend to understand a bit more about Hive, how it works and what to expect when joining Hive.

I'm grateful that thanks to Hive, we were able to quickly get over our awkward moments as strangers. It is not always that easy for me when I meet a stranger. Very often I felt myself in a position of not knowing what to say.

Love Jose's hat so I asked him to take a photo to share with you guys

Today, I had another catchup with my friend at a library to help her set up the Hive account. I know and understand the difficulties for newbies so we decided to meet in person so I can show her how to use the blogging functionality on Hive.

It was another beautiful day in Wellington so it would be great for a lunch picnic before meeting my friend. Since our destination is in Lower Hutt City, a place that my partner or I had never visited, we wanted to find a park to have our lunch and to be in nature.

Indeed, as I imagined, this place is beautiful with many trees and flowers

I love this small stream running around the park

After that, we met my friend in the library. I was glad that it didn't take long for my friend to learn her way around Hive's system. She is a quick learner so with just a few instructions, she was able to set up her own account, find her favourite communities and prepare for her first post.

I also realized that there are many basic things that I still don't fully understand about Hive e.g. the voting system. So I'll take the time to re-read the beginner guides this weekend too.

As we spent the whole afternoon there, I spent a bit of time to organise my thoughts and arrange what articles to write next. To be honest, I have quite a few posts that are still sitting in the draft mode so this is about the time that I can get it done and schedule to post it later.

My partner and I returned to the city centre at around 5 pm. As the weather was stunning today, I wanted to visit a newly built area that is considered a new icon of Wellington. It caught my attention when I read a post about "There is no I in Wellington without You". I didn't understand at the beginning but when I saw the photo, I told myself "What a clever way to promote Wellington. I must check this out"

Here is the new famous place in Wellington

Without me, indeed there is no I in Wellington

I wanted to make a Y so it becomes Wellyngton - still ok to read, right>

Then I thought how about jumping

What a great weekend I had so far. I met other Hiver in person. I had the chance to listen to his stories and experiences. I introduced my friend to Hive and she is excited about this opportunity. I also had a great lunch out in nature and then had a lot of fun with the new icon of Wellington. I am grateful and appreciate for what I have in this life.
