The reality of my nightmares

My name is Lenna I am 17 years old, today is Monday, a day like any other, the only difference is that my parents are behaving strangely, I asked mom what was going on and she just said "everything is going to be fine". After breakfast I usually go to class but this time they are not going the same route as usual, this day seems more and more strange to me.

After driving for about 20 minutes my father announces "we arrived", the question I ask myself since I got in the car is, where to, I know I have been behaving in a strange way lately, nightmares visit me every night and the fear of having them prevents me from sleeping, it all started since the day of the accident, but to be honest I don't remember anything, I don't know why it affects me. My grades have dropped a lot, I guess that's why my parents are worried.

After calming my thoughts I get out of the car, my parents were waiting for me to get out of the car to enter, it is a big clinic, we walk through the long corridors until we get to a door that says psychology consultation, now I start to understand everything, my parents knock on the door and from inside someone answers "come in". When I enter I see a very pretty doctor with a smile, I feel very nervous, much more when I see the chair where they lay people down to interrogate them, I have seen it in the movies.

The doctor very kindly tells my parents to go out and leave me alone with her, she asks me how I have been feeling and I tell her that I am fine only that my nightmares prevent me from sleeping, she invites me to lie down on the couch and I do it, but I don't think it will help me much, I have tried to sleep without having nightmares at home and I have not been able to, but I still lie down on the couch as the doctor asks me, while I tell her what is the nightmare that keeps me awake.

My hands start to shake just remembering, I tell her that I am scared, she gives me some water and tells me to continue that she is there to help me, every night I see a girl lying on the floor with a blow on her head and full of blood, I don't know if she is breathing but around her there is a lot of glass, in the nightmare I start crying because it hurts me to see her like that but I can't see her face I don't know who she is, I try to dial a phone number to call someone but when I see my hands full of blood I faint, so I wake up every night scared and crying.

Hearing what I told her, the doctor asks me if I remember what happened the day of the accident and I say no, so she asks me to close my eyes and start remembering what happened two weeks ago the day of the accident. I start counting from when I woke up that day in the morning, what I had for breakfast, the clothes I wore and then waiting for my friend Brianna to pick me up to go to class together. During that day everything was going normal until the part where we were going back home, little by little I started to remember, I feel my heart beating very fast, my tears fall down my cheeks, the doctor takes my hand to give me strength to continue telling and I remember how slowly my nightmare was becoming a reality.

A speeding car swerved off the road and came straight towards us, Brianna saw it and swerved the car in another direction, but the other car hit us in the side causing Brianna to hit her head against the glass, which shattered on impact, causing injuries to both her and me, Brianna's air bag didn't work, but mine did, I only had superficial injuries, but Brianna was very bad, I had to take her out of the car and put her on the ground, she had a very strong blow on her head, I start to cry because I see her very bad, I don't have the strength to check if she is breathing, she is my best friend.

Immediately, I dial my mom to ask her for help, when I see that blood drops start to fall on the phone I realize that I am hurt, I hear my mom answer and I could only say "blood" before falling fainted on the floor. I open my eyes crying and touching my forehead, my nightmare was a reality, I see the doctor get up and open the door to my parents, they come in, hug me and tell me the words I wanted to hear so much "Brianna is ok", when I heard the word blood in my call my mom understood that something was happening and immediately went out with my father to look for us and called Brianna's mom, together they went all the way and found us in time, it was not too late for Brianna who had lost a lot of blood, I also had a bump on my head but after stitches I was allowed to go home. The accident site was not very busy so our parents saved our lives.

The blow had left Brianna in a coma for two weeks, just that morning she had woken up and asked for me, the doctor told me that I had unconsciously blocked that memory from my mind because it was traumatic for me, but my subconscious could not erase it and every night I was reminded of it, seeing my friend in such a bad condition made a big impression on me, my mind erased it completely convincing me that nothing happened.

It has been several days since I learned what happened, I go into the hospital to see my friend, I bring her favorite flowers. When I open the door I see her with her beautiful smile, she opens her arms, welcomes me with a big hug and tells me "your call saved my life".
