"CDC thinks you can't be trusted with some COVID data. Should it still be allowed to exist?"

CDC hides COVID data it claims is not ready for "prime time": NYT

According to a 20 February NYT article, the CDC has concealed about a year worth of several data metrics related to the COVID-19 pandemic in the US including the data on hospitalizations, effectiveness of vaccines and boosters and other data. The data they had concealed would, for example, suggest that 18 to 49 year olds hardly benefit from vaccine boosters. CDC's reasoning: the data is not ready for "prime time". Or, in other words, you, the public, are not considered to be smart enough to know what that data means. Your job is to pay taxes that finance the CDC, and they will decide to what degree you need to know what your tax dollars produce.

This is interesting on many levels. It is one of the many pieces forming a large body of evidence showing that the US government consists of a large spectrum of bureaucracies who no longer feel they are accountable to the public. Judicial Watch fining itself having to sue to so many critical documents is thus hardly an aberration but largely part of a pattern - the pattern of behaviour typical of corrupt and unaccountable governments that feel that their functioning is not possible without deep, multi-level secrecy and deception.

It also is emblematic of said bureaucracies having gone so pathological that, in this author's opinion, they are beyond redemption. That appears to be the case with some government agencies, and definitely is the case with the CDC. In CDC's case this corruption is nicely coupled with very poor performance when it comes to their officially defined mission. That leaves us essentially with one reasonable course of action: complete dissolution of the CDC and termination of all its employees. The ones that are competent can be rehired into a new private or public service organization performing the public health function assigned to the CDC. While a shock measure, this is the measure that is most likely to produce a positive outcome in the end. But ultimately, the government should never forget that they operate at the citizens' permission and not at all - and it is high time they are reminded of that in no uncertain terms.
