IODINE

Iodine, I find Iodine to be kind of sexy. Kind of a weird thing to say about a substance. Just in it's concentrated gas state it is rather gorgeous.

This first video describes it as " The most colorful element on Earth." I mostly just love the violet myself. He covers a wide range of reactions and experiments that can be carried out with Iodine. There is an explosion or two as well in this video which I know some of you thrive on. Who doesn't enjoy a good explosion? Another You Tube Channel I tend to frequent, loads of interesting material to cover. (Thoisoi2 - Chemical Experiments) is the name of the channel -->

Iodine is essential for life. And it's essential for people's thyroid function. The story I am told is the thyroid requires Iodine in order to produce Thyroxine and Tryidotrionion, which the body needs for metabolism. It's also required for proper brain and bone development during pregnancy and infancy. Thyroxine is called T3 and Tryidotrionion is called T4 based on the number of Iodine atoms they carry.

They give people potassium iodide tables during events involving nuclear fall out to try and prevent peoples thyroids from absorbing any Iodine that happens to be radio active.

Years ago, when I was working at a cheese factory, we had this large tub we would fill with water and then add a certain amount of an Iodine solution. We would dip all our cheese making tools into this container as well as our hands and arms to prevent any pathogens from ended up in the cheese we would work on. This experience lead me to want to use Iodine again during the pandemic as a hand sanitizer as an alternative to all those alcohol based hand sanitizers they were putting out. The rumor is many of the hand sanitizers that are being put out were from people working under the Communist Party of China. And who knows what may have been going into them. One might suspect that the hand sanitizer was laced with Graphene-Oxide and or Ethylene-Oxide. I'd be inclined to trust main stream hand sanitizer about as much as main stream paper masks. Health Canada admits to the presence of Graphene in the paper masks. In fact they initiated a recall on them as of 13-Jul,2021. I have a screen shot for it right here -->

MaskRecallCanada.png

The original link was much more revealing until they suddenly made the information exclusive for "health professionals" Certainly wouldn't seem like they were trying to hide something.

Note: Graphene is the base material needed in order to create Graphene-Oxide as you may have guessed. And who would be able to tell the difference between Graphene or Graphene-Oxide without the right knowledge and equipment? I covered more regarding the masks in a previous post I did so check that out if you care to zoom into that --> @photonium/mask-recalls-graphitegraphenegraphene-oxide-and-sars-cov-2.

If I use it allot it turns my hands orange which I don't mind too much. LOL, so sometimes I have Trump hands. The solution I use is fairly diluted with water so I'm not concerned about over exposure. It is suppose to be quite instrumental as an antiseptic. Here is a quote straight off of a google search -->

"Iodine presents broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity against bacteria, viruses, and fungi, and it has a rapid and substantive disinfecting effect [15]. Iodine rapidly penetrates microorganisms and acts on nucleotides (DNA), fatty acids, and thiol groups"

In the medical profession I guess they do use Iodine for disinfecting, though it may not be the same form, according to the following they use something called Povidone-Iodine. For some reason getting the chemical composition of Povidone-Iodine is posing a real challenge. Maybe they don't want us to know? Link provided by (Wikipedia) --> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Povidone-iodine.

This guy did a really in depth video regarding Iodine against Sars-Cov-2. And it turns out that it does prove to be effective, kills the virus within 60 seconds if a person cared to use it as an oral/nasal antiseptic --> . This is a bit confusing because it contradicts the theory that Sars-Cov-2 doesn't exist and that they never isolated it. But, just encase it does exist.

I have inhaled the mist off of potassium-iodide/iodate solution that I put into a spray bottle in the hopes it might prevent infection. Whether or not potassium-iodide/iodate would prove effective is somewhat left as a wonder. When they talk about any given Iodine based solutions they tend to talk about something they call "available Iodine" which I find interesting. It suggests that Iodine is the portion of any antiseptic that is responsible for killing/disabling a virus. I'm extrapolating that whatever form of Iodine that is safe to expose the body to will carry and deliver Iodine in whatever quantity where it is able to have it's antiseptic effects.

Aaah, this video has brought the epiphany that was missing regarding Povidone-Iodine. It explains why there is no chemical composition for Povidone-Iodine. Turns out Povidone-Iodine describes Iodine atoms that are linked with carrier proteins. This video also sheds light on the other forms of Iodine and exactly what they are. He also covers how they are effective against pathogens including viruses. This video is a true life saver, I wouldn't have been able to finish this post without it. He zooms right in on the thyroid gland and shows all the processes involved. Radio active Iodine is actually called Iodine-131. Though, Iodine does have many other isotopes, and Iodine-131 is not the only isotope that is radio active. Turns out usage of Iodine-131 is actually a treatment option for graves disease. Video provided by the You Tube channel (Drbeen Medical Lectures) -->

Graves Disease: Autoimmune disease that over stimulated thyroid receptors resulting in over active thyroid and thyroid enlargement aka hyperthyroidism.

Hashimoto's Thyroiditis Disease: Autoimmune disease that blocks thyroid receptors resulting in hypothyroidism. To treat this one, a patients needs to have their thyroid hormones added from an outside source. A bit similar to how diabetics need insulin from an outside source. Hashimoto's thyroiditis is named after the Japanese surgeon who discovered it in 1912.

The stuff I bought is identified by the seller as Potassium-Iodide, but I suspect the solution must also have some Potassium-Iodate in it due to the fact that it is a nice burgundy color. I'm basing this according to this next video where he demonstrates how Potassium-Iodide is made. Buddy in the video mentions that Potassium-Iodide dissolves in water and Potassium-Iodate does not, so the burgundy color would have to be caused by Potassium-Iodate. Well done video, Channel name is (mrhomescientist) -->

This next video is pretty interesting. It's a way to test your table salt to make sure the salt company actually put Iodine into it. Just for you folks that are very distrusting LOL. You Tube channel name is (Tommy Technetium) -->
Another interesting thing here is how he uses ascorbic acid aka Vitamin C to turn the Iodine back into Iodide. He says it's a bad idea to poor Iodine down the drawn, never says why though. The google search says it's because elemental Iodine is hazardous to marine life and toxic to the environment.

This video is kind of the same idea except he uses a whole different approach, rather interesting to see some diversity of methodology, You Tube Channel name is (Cody's Lab) -->

Tony Pantalleresco of the You Tube Channel (Herbs plus Beadworks) demonstrates how to turn Potassium -Iodide into Iodine aka Iodine crystals, which I gather people are suppose to use in order to create something called Lugol's Iodine.

What is Lugol's Iodine and why would we want to make it? From what I gather Lugol's Iodine solution is a solution of Potassium-Iodide with some excess pure Iodine in it. So you could call it Iodine enhanced Potassium-Iodide. I'm guessing Lugol's Iodine is ideal as an oral supplement. -->

Have to include the the videos from the (Periodic Table of Videos) Love these guys -->

Allot of overlap in this video on things we have already covered, but it does add a pretty cool reaction and the fact that tadpoles will not turn into frogs unless the water they are in has some Iodine in it.

This video goes into tons of details and covers the discovery of Iodine. Where it is refined. What it is refined from. Turns out Iodine actually got it's name from the greek (I-o-dees) which means violet, so it was named after it's gas state appearance. Iodine like Silver, played an indispensable roll in retro photography. They actually put two of my favorites together to make Silver-Iodide. And I'm surprised to learn that they use Silver-Iodide to try and make it snow.
Here is a previous post I did regarding Silver if you care to check that out --> @photonium/silver

Sodium-Iodide crystals are used to detect X-rays and Gamma rays, upon exposure flashing bits of light can actually be seen in the crystal. Iodine is also used to make LCD screens and polarized sunglasses. Really well done video, and it looks like this guy deserves more You Tube traffic than he got. Maybe I can help him out with that. This video was provided by the You Tube channel (Ron Hipschman)-->

Do you need Iodine? Here is a video covering signs of Iodine deficiency. Kait is pretty awesome, I have watched some of her videos before and they are awesome. Name of the channel is (Health Coach Kait) -->

Wow, I just watched that video and I'm floored to find out that sodium-fluoride blocks iodine absorption! Yes, sodium-fluoride is that toxic crap they put in peoples tap water!

Who knew there was so much information on one element? I hope I have managed to get the tip of the iceberg on Iodine at least. LOL. Thank you so much for reading, I hope this can be useful to everyone. Hope to see you at my next post. Bold
