Potassium, chemically and in the body, wonderful and essential for life

https://pubchem.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/element/Potassium

One time when it was pretty hot out we were getting some pretty heavy work done outside. There was allot of debris to be relocated. I remember my wrist/hand locked up on my at one point. The muscle did not want to let go. I was shaking it, hitting it, willing it to loosen up, eventually it did respond. And I have seen videos where they took some frog legs, they sprinkled sodium on the legs first and that cause them to contract, they then sprinkled some potassium on the legs and low and behold that made them expand or let go. I don't think it was elemental potassium or sodium they applied to the frog legs, I think the sodium was sodium-chloride and the potassium was probably some salt form of potassium, maybe like potassium-nitrite.

I was always a big fan of making sure I drank allot of water, because dehydration sucks. Muscles locking up, doesn't help anything, especially if you're calling on your body to perform.

I have heard many people say the Banana is a great foot source of potassium. But it was pointed out to me that banana's have allot of sugar in them, namely fructose and fructose tends to decrease bio-availability of potassium. As an alternative the avocado was recommended instead. I haven't eaten many of them, by themselves avocados are not exactly easy to get down LOL, but I have made power yogurts with lots of avocado blended into it.

I kind of took the lazy way out and went to potassium supplements. Namely Potassium-Citrate. Which did help a fair bit with the locking muscles. It is important for me to mention that the legal does per table of Potassium-whatever at least in Canada and likely many other places is 99mg. The medical establishment is allegedly concerned about people putting their bodies into a state of hyperkalemia, which I suppose could be a valid concern. Hyper means too much, hypo means not enough. Kalemia is derived from the latin word kalium which is the word they used for potassium and this is why Potassium appears to us on the periodic table as "K".

As well as the odd muscle lock here and there, my body also had signs of insulin resistance, so when I found out potassium can help reverse insulin resistance that really sold me. I thought, if it helps than why not? I take 1 99mg table every morning. Which is no where near what we are suppose to get in terms of our daily intake, so at best I just give it a little boost.

One important bit I came across said that if you're muscles lock up while you are working it's probably potassium you need, but if your muscles lock up while you are resting or sleeping that is probably your body calling for magnesium.

Another thing I did was add some Biosteel to my work water. Makes it taste better. I use the pure white stuff so I know it doesn't have any dyes in it. Sweetened with stevia which I have been told does not provoke any insulin response from the body, which is exactly what I want. Some sports drinks are a total joke, they lace them with enough sugar to make a horse hyper. If you're really hard up, I guess a person can just add some lemon juice to there water, though I am not certain how much useful electrolites are in lemon juice, I'd have to look into that, I might be surprised. Lemon water is suppose to be quite supportive of the liver. And I think it does have some trace amounts of Potassium citrate and Magnesium citrate in it --> BioSteel.jpg

Do you need more potassium? This video covers the signs of low potassium in the body -->

This nice lady explains the relationship between insulin and potassium, she doesn't really explain how more potassium could help with insulin resistance, but an interesting bit non the less, piece of the puzzle if nothing else -->

This guy explains potassium in the body quite thoroughly and why having the correct amount of potassium would aid in restoring insulin sensitivity of the cells. Long story short, it is needed to convert glucose into glycogen. -->

Same guy again here,I love this guy, he has been so helpful and has explained so much. Here he shares more profound insight regarding Potassium and the body and how it can offer energy to the body -->

Not so much it offers more energy to the body, but it can optimize energy, make the body more efficient.

One more from this guy again, focusing in on Potassium and electrolites. -->

Turns out what I'm doing regarding Potassium and my body with the little supplements has been
an ineffective approach. Good thing I decided to review and report these materials again. LOL

Elemental Potassium metal is actually really interesting too in it's own right. Highly reactive, which makes for great entertainment. Like most cool things it can make some nice explosions. Can you believe something this cool is actually in your body right now? I absolutely love the Periodic Table of Videos, they literally cover every element and more, they have provided so much quality information -->

Going by this pic, if it actually uploads, you can see Potassium is quite abundant --> ElementalAbundance.gif Just try to imagine it's there if you will. LOL

Doesn't look like the pic made it, apparently I need some videos on how to deal with stubborn software next. LOL

Potash at the name implies has Potassium in it. I have heard it is a big resource in Saskatchewan. And I guess people can make there own by burning stuff in the yard. Turns out, plants need Potassium too, and this is a good way to make sure they get it. So when was the last time you got your friends and family together to burn stuff? I know people enjoy sitting around burning stuff, I've seen them do it allot. LOL Like this guy -->

There is actually a fair bit of other stuff in potash.

If you're body gives you any bad feedback, just maybe you need some more Potassium, if this can be helpful to anyone, nothing could make me more happy. Thank you, hope to see you at the next post. I think I'll cover silver next.
