On the Publication of Babylon Red, and, the Triumph of Absurdity

Previously, I described my struggles to verify that I own the copyright to Babylon Red. In the face of such Kafkaesque insanity, I reasoned that ordinary logic would be insufficient to penetrate the silicon shell of the KDP Content Review Team. My only recourse was absurdity on a scale to overmatch what I have encountered. Thus, immediately after writing the post, I sent an email to Amazon with the link the blog post and described the events of the saga to date.

Here is the exchange:

For two weeks I have asked Amazon what documents they needed. For two weeks I have been steadfastly ignored. Nonetheless, I asked again:

The result:

No apology. No explanation. Just another script.

It was everything I have come to expect of Amazon. Bounded by the limits of templates and scripts, none of their representatives could say anything more. Serving as the interchangeable speakers of a digital behemoth, animated by mere electricity and elevated to an existence less than sentience, they could not speak what the non-thinking machine did not give them leave to speak.

Nonetheless, at such immense cost of time, energy, not to mention sanity, I have obtained a victory for rationality through ridiculousness.

What a crazy world we live in.

Exiting this labyrinth of absurdity, I am now obliged to pitch you my work.

The New Gods have won.

Or so they thought.

Dark gods and horrific monsters wage a shadow war to dominate the planet. Only the Special Tasks Section could keep them from tearing the world apart. And now, they have been disbanded.

But for the disgraced operators of Team Black Watch, the mission continues.

The odds are stacked against them. The authorities will not protect them. Their resources are limited. The New Gods have fresh horrors waiting for them.

Worst of all, team leader Yuri Yamamoto, Christian mystic and street samurai, the only man who can stand fast against the soul-crushing powers of the New Gods, is in exile.

Driven underground, the men of Team Black Watch do what they can to keep the horrors at bay. But when the New Gods launch a fresh offensive, it falls to team sniper Kayla Fox to rally them.

With their ace gone, Team Black Watch must find a way to resist the overwhelming power of the New Gods.

All of humanity depends on it.

Babylon Red collects five hard-hitting cyberpunk horror stories, detailing a guerilla campaign against the dark rulers of the world. Originally published as webserials, these stories have been remastered and compiled in a single volume, along with a bonus never-before-published novel.

Welcome back to Nova Babylonia. Hold on to your soul. You're going to need it.
