Champagne Afternoon Cream Tea at the Ritz London

Good Evening Everyone,

This afternoon I went to The Ritz in London for Champagne Afternoon Tea to celebrate Fathers Day. Yes, it is a little early, but my Father lives so far away and I really wanted to do something special. I do love The Ritz, I have been there quite a few times. I thought I would share my wonderful day with you all.

Champagne Afternoon Cream Tea at the Ritz London

We started off at the Rivoli Bar and Lounge. I decided to go for a Ritz special. It’s called Ritz 110.

"In honour of The Ritz London’s long and colourful history, we invite guests to celebrate the wealth of experience and extraordinary history in lavish style by sipping on pure gold in this glamorous concoction. Gold Infused Absolut Elyx Vodka, Grand Marnier and Peach Liquor, finished with Champagne."

What a delicious drink! My regular followers will know how much of a champagne fan I am. I loved this drink, especially the little gold flakes that were floating around. This drink was very fruity and it had a bitter aftertaste. They put a sugar cube in the glass after serving it and it’s fun to watch the drink sizzle and bubble.

Afterwards we moved on to Champagne Afternoon Tea. We were sat down at our table and observed the menu. The sandwich selection was amazing. A lot of my favourite flavours.

Sandwiches

  • Ham with Grain Mustard Mayonnaise on Brioche Bread
  • Cheddar Cheese with Chutney on Tomato Bread
  • Cucumber with Cream Cheese, Dill and Chives on Granary Bread
  • Roast Beef with Horseradish on Malt Bread Scottish
  • Smoked Salmon with Lemon Butter on Sourdough Bread
  • Egg Mayonnaise with Chopped Shallots and Watercress on Brioche Roll

Then I chose my tea. I decided to go for Rooibos Red Tea. I’ve never had this tea before. I decided to go for it because I am not allowed caffeine at the moment. It was lovely. I like my tea strong. I don’t like flowery tea. This one had quite an earthy taste to it. Delicious!

"Caffeine free, rich in vitamin C, mineral salts and anti-oxidants.”

When the food arrived, I firstly inspected the sandwiches. Each one was perfectly crafted and straight. I couldn’t wait to tuck in… then they brought out the sweet and pastries… Oh my God! I couldn’t take my eyes off them. The white one was very creamy. It tasted of mango, lemon and passion fruit. It had a fruit gel in the centre too. The pink one tasted of raspberry and vanilla cream. It had a fruit gel in the centre too. The macaron was orange and vanilla flavoured. It has such a strong orange flavour. All the sweet was so yummy. I ate two of each sweet!

Then the scones came out. They were very warm and freshly baked. I don’t know how you have your scones, but I always do mine with cream first then jam. To me it’s like making a piece of toast. You wouldn’t put the jam on first and then the butter, so why would you put the jam on first on a scone and then the cream??

Finally the cake cart came out. There was a choice of a chocolate mousse cake or an apple tart. I went for the apple tart. It had a pastry bottom which was loaded with an apple jam, topped with cream and pastry balls that were surrounded in hard caramel. I couldn’t eat all of it. I didn’t really want a slice after eating everything, but how could I not?!

Everything was so delightful and the best thing about eating here is that they refill everything. Sandwiches, cakes, scones… you name it, they refill it! I left extremely full. All I wanted to do was to go home and sleep. I felt like I had gone up 2 dress sizes! I have had a few Afternoon Tea’s in my time, this one is by far the best! Great location and amazing value for money. A big 5 stars!!
