"I'm a climate model," she purred. I never knew a human could purr those words, or really any words, I always just thought that when you thought of a human purring, it was a person trilling their Rs, you know? But anyway, I was wrong, she purred, there just wasn't any other way to describe it.

"A climate model? What's that?" I couldn't stop myself from asking, even as I worried it would make me look and sound really dumb.

She purr-chuckled. I swear this woman was part cat. "It's very hard to describe. You kind of have to see it to believe it, you know?"

I didn't know, but she was taking my hand, and I would follow her anywhere, so my body did just that and we walked out of the party, out the double doors of the mansion, down the steps and into a waiting limousine. How had the limousine driver known to be waiting? Did she give some kind of signal that I had missed as I was thinking about her purr talk? Maybe I was a little tipsy after all, though I thought I'd only had one glass of champagne. There were servers everywhere and maybe one or more of them had given me refills when I wasn't paying attention, or rather, when I was paying a lot of attention to that purr talk and the lips surrounding the purr talk.

But anyway, now we were in a limousine together and I guessed I was going to learn what climate modeling was.
