Feathered Friends - Show Me A Photo Contest Round 72: BIRD STANDING...

Всем привет!	Hello everyone!
В Вене я с друзьями побывала весной 2011 года. Первый день мы посвятили Шёнбрунну. Посмотрев и королевский дворец, и парк с Триумфальной аркой. И, конечно, оставшееся до вечера время мы с радостью посвятили венскому зоопарку. Он находится там же.	I visited Vienna with my friends in the spring of 2011. The first day we devoted to Schönbrunn. After seeing both the royal palace and the park with the Arc de Triomphe. And, of course, we happily devoted the remaining time until the evening to the Vienna Zoo. It is in the same place.
Для конкурса я выбрала фотографии фламинго.	For the contest, I chose photos of flamingos.
Фламинго – одни из самых красивых и необычных птиц – часто встречаются в разных зоопарках.	Flamingos - one of the most beautiful and unusual birds - are often found in different zoos.
Большинство их тех, что я видела - птички нежного бледно-розового цвета. А вот красавцы из Вены. Посмотрите, какие яркие!	Most of those that I saw are birds of a delicate pale pink color. And here are the beauties from Vienna. Look how bright!
Был конец апреля, прекрасный солнечный день. Все фламинго стояли в пруду на одной ноге.	It was the end of April, a beautiful sunny day. All flamingos stood in the pond on one leg.

Прочитала, что окрас оперения фламинго зависит от питания. Рождаются они серовато-белыми. А по мере поедания богатой каротиноидами пищи, например, рачков, оперение накапливает пигмент и становится розовым. Чем ярче, тем, значит, больше в пище каротиноидов.

I read that the color of flamingo plumage depends on nutrition. They are born grayish white. And as they eat food rich in carotenoids, such as crustaceans, plumage accumulates pigment and becomes pink. The brighter, the more carotenoids in the food.

Очевидно, эти венские фламинго получают вдоволь моркови и креветок.

Obviously, these Viennese flamingos get plenty of carrots and shrimp.

Всё время, пока мы рассматривали и фотографировали эту троицу, они так и оставались на одной ноге.

All the time while we examined and photographed this trinity, they remained on one leg.

Забавно, что у двух крайних одна нога так тщательно поджата, что её совсем не разглядеть. Зато хорошо видно у среднего. Средний фламинго при этом и поджатую ногу клювом почесал и прихорашивал пёрышки. И всё это, стоя на одной ножке.

It's funny that the two extreme ones have one leg so carefully tucked in that you can't see it at all. But it is clearly visible in the middle. At the same time, the average flamingo scratched its tucked leg with its beak and preened its feathers. And all this while standing on one leg.
