The subject of this post may sound a bit weird, but it is what it is...
This is a Great Tit. A cute little bird that is quite common in large parts of Europe.
In the back of our backyard, we have hung a nest box, especially for our little friends.
A couple of weeks ago I already noticed that a great tit was inspecting our nest box.
It flew to the opening to check it out.
But suddenly this week I saw a couple of great tits flying back and forth to the nest box.
When I walked outside I heard the little ones twittering; such a lovely sound.
Today I grabbed my tripod and pointed my camera at the opening in the nest box to capture them on film. But they fly so incredibly fast. I wasn't able to capture one in flight. Even with the sports/burst mode on. They arrive with all sorts of insects in their beak and I would have loved to capture a shot of that too.
The following 'butt shot' was the best I could capture 😂
Sorry, Great Tit!
They go in for a few seconds and immediately fly away to get some more. As soon as the parent leave the nest box the little ones start twittering.
I didn't want to disturb them for too long. I think the parents didn't like me too close to the nest box. But when I took my camera off the tripod one of them landed shortly on our fence and I was able to capture this shot of him flying away.
I do have a short video clip as well, but I don't know how I can add it to this post.
So id anyone knows, please help me so I can add it afterwards.
