Ever imagined the mighty eagle, which knows no bounds, cooped up in a nest 24x7? That is what the family does to it - well, for a few months anyways..
The poor eagle mom and dad, by turn, have to feel like being in a frat house with a messy youngster (or two), traipsing around, messing up a carefully built net and trying their best to crap and fall out at every opportunity!😀😀
The watchful eye of the mother, the naughty chick and the general state of the nest is all apparent in this picture I took couple of years ago..

The mighty Bonelli's eagle, which soars as high as 2000-3000 meters and has the strength to lift dogs and small monkeys, get tied to the ground (in a figurative way) when it wants to have a family.
Not unlike us humans - the free spirits that we are when we are young - partying, travelling as we like and moving from one partner to another without a single care in the world, get settled and find a home when we find the final loved one and want to have a family.
The eagle parents carry sticks and carefully construct a nest high up on trees. The nest is located such that the parents can keep an eye on the surroundings and is also built strong to withstand gusts of wind, with interwoven sticks. The nest is then nicely lined with soft leaves. It looks so cozy and pretty..
However, then come the chicks and order turns into chaos !
Fluffy white fuzzy furballs start waddling around the nest soon. They eat, prance around, sleep and crap. They somehow o to the edges of the nest to take a dump ... instinct I guess! However, then they just seem to love to toddle around the edges of the nest. Precariously living on the edge! Mother or father try their best to keep them under the wings and not let them up to a lot of mischief. However, kids are kids - they WILL get into mischief.
Therefore, the parent eagles have many sleepless days and nights till they are ready to push the chicks out to fly.
I found the whole family episode of eagles fascinating. I have seen some other families too. Owls, Spice finches, parrots etc. Here are some nice family clicks...
