ecoTrain Question Of The Week #19: What are you addicted to and how does it help or hinder you?

qotw19.jpg

I was reading a couple of posts from @erikah about addiction, and i thought it would make a great topic for the Question Of The Week. Erika has recently given up coffee, which is just one of our favourite global addictions. Some addictions are more obvious than others, and addictions include all natural foods, medicinal plants, mental habits, psychology, and behaviour patterns. For many of us our addictions can be quite healthy, whereas others can get out of hand and take over. Gaming was the theme of last weeks Question Of the Week, and that is a great example of an addiction that can get very out of balance. Many of us are addicted to things we may not be aware of, and dairy products and cheese are a great example. Cheese contains casomorphins, that are mild opiates, and that is the reason why people LOVE their cheese so much.

So this week we ask you to share with us what you are addicted to. You can dig deep and think of things you may not have thought about before. You can share about things that you feel are good addictions, such as exercise, love, sharing, giving, and god. You can also of course share things that you feel are out of balance and not healthy, such as smoking, alcohol, violence, etc.

If you enjoy writing about psychology id love to hear about why you think we have such addictive tendencies in general, and why some people seem to have a more addictive personality than others. Are we just born like that or did our lives somehow bring that upon us? Whatever you say, whoever you are, and wherever you come from, we would love to hear from you! Also if you have found ways to help beat addiction please do write about it and share your experiences.
