Spirituality Without Technology

In previous topics of the #ecotrain #qotw we discussed about Spirituality. Reading through several opinions, I got to realize that most of us agree with the fact that spiritually is a personal journey. Therefore everybody is free to use whatever approach suitable for them in their practice of spirituality.

Some welcome the use of technology to enhance their spirituality practice. Music is a great spirituality booster, some people utilize the products of technology to make music available. There are so many other ways in which technology can be used to enhance spirituality.

"The most unique aspect of the new survey was that it used data collected through smartphones. The new technology allowed researchers to develop a rich understanding of lived religion, new technologies can influence the spiritual lives of individual believers," Kucinskas said

Some others are totally against technology, they believe that spirituality is strictly about nature. This is not me criticizing any body's opinion, I'm here to share my view on this.

In my opinion, I think spirituality and technology can coexist side by side. I think so because like I mentioned earlier, products of technology can be used to boost spirituality, in the same way, spirituality can also help to boost technology. In the sense that you might be having a spiritual moments and ideas of new technology starts coming to your mind.

I actually want to talk about their survival without each other. Taking a look at technology, I don't think it relies so much on technology, I mean you don't have to be spiritual to use the products of technology. On the other hand, spirituality can use a little boosting from technology. I'm not exactly saying that spirituality can't stand without technology, but I don't agree to entirely ruling out technology or claiming that technology is against religion/spirituality.

I have heard sayings like, "Spirituality is more of spending time with nature." Which I agree with. But saying that "True spirituality is against spirituality." This makes me wonder if man can actually live without technology. I have had this argument several times, people normally come up with points like. "Our ancient fore fathers lived without Technology and they survived pretty fine." I agree with them to some extent, but you cannot compare the past with the present. You will agree with me that recently, 90% of the things around us are either products of technology or have been influenced by technology one way or another, including the cloths we wear. Back then, before technology, if you walk around naked or probably cover yourself barely with leaves, it will be totally normal. But now, in the technology era, if you try that you will be arrested and put in the psychiatric home.

It is that simple, if you are totally against technology, you wouldn't wear clothes, or live in a house, because they are all products of technology.
