Beautiful and quiet Masceti beach in the morning.

The first week of June my wife and I went to Bali to commemorate the passing of my beloved father on 6-6-2022. It has been 19 years since he's gone but not forgotten. To commemorate the anniversary we decided to hold a simple ceremony at Masceti beach where we scattered my mother's ashes last year.

Calm sea & cool morning breeze.

Masceti beach is located in Medahan village in Gianyar district. The beach is considered sacred by the local and gets its name from the temple located on the beach. There are thousands of temples in Bali, the Masceti is one of the 9 directional temple although it's not as popular as the others and less visited.

Unlike other popular Bali beaches that are overcrowded, Masceti beach is very ideal for a quiet stay away as there's hardly any commercialization. The glimmering black sands feel soft to walk on, and the locals come to this beach to hold ceremonies and scatter the ashes of their loved ones.

It took almost 1 hour to drive from our home in Denpasar, and we left early to make sure we don't get caught in morning rush hour. When we got there, it was around 7:15 am and the beach was quiet. We only saw a couple jogging and a young man was doing his morning exercise and yoga on the beach. The morning weather was still nice, sunny but not too hot, and that was another reason why we wanted to get there early so it would not be too hot when we hold the ceremony.

Here's my attempt at videography using camera: Xiaomi 11T Pro and edited using Final Cut Pro 10.4.
