Como un gesto de agradecimiento a la comunidad #HiveDiy , hoy les traigo este casi olvidado trabajo de manualidades, que se conserva por el amor y el orgullo de mi Madre quien lo reclamó de la exhibición escolar hace más de medio siglo. Motivo por el que no les puedo mostrar el paso a paso, pero tratare de explicarles lo mejor posible el procedimiento.

As a gesture of thanks to the #HiveDiy community, today I bring you this almost forgotten craft work, preserved by the love and pride of my Mother who reclaimed it from the school exhibit over half a century ago. Reason why I cannot show you the step by step, but I will try to explain the procedure as best as possible.

Lo llamo "tapiz" a falta de un nombre más apropiado, pues la intención fue que simulara serlo, al menos de lejos.
Como pueden apreciar en este acercamiento se trata de pequeñas bolitas de papel de seda de colores pegadas sobre el diseño previamente dibujado sobre papel pegado en un cartón duro que aporte un buen soporte, también se puede emplear una tabla o como en mi caso, dos tapas de cajas de papel fotográfico 8 x 10 (pulgadas) pegadas y sujetas con grapas en el centro y forradas por los bordes, dejando un saliente de 2 o 3 milímetros para proteger las bolitas de los bordes.

I call it "tapestry" for lack of a more appropriate name, since the intention was that it simulated it, at least from afar.
As you can see in this approach, it is about small balls of colored tissue paper pasted on the design previously drawn on paper pasted on a hard cardboard that provides good support, you can also use a board or, as in my case, two covers of 8 x 10 (inch) photographic paper boxes glued and stapled in the center and lined along the edges, leaving a 2 or 3 millimeter overhang to protect the pellets from the edges.

Una vez elegido el diseño y dibujado o pegado sobre la superficie de soporte, conviene marcar y definir el color que cubrirá cada espacio y te proveas de suficiente papel de seda de los colores elegidos, así como pegamento, que ya no recuerdo cual utilice, seguramente cola blanca, pero igual pueden funcionar el pegamento transparente o la silicona líquida. Yo no la use, pues aunque no lo puedo asegurar, creo que se trata de un producto de reciente aparición y no existía en mi infancia.

Once the design has been chosen and drawn or pasted on the support surface, it is convenient to mark and define the color that will cover each space and provide yourself with enough tissue paper of the chosen colors, as well as glue, which I no longer remember which one to use, surely white glue, but clear glue or liquid silicone can still work. I didn't use it, because although I can't be sure, I think it's a recent product and it didn't exist in my childhood.

Para el siguiente paso del proceso y dependiendo del tamaño elegido y el tiempo que le quieran dedicar, quizás les convenga la participación de algún ayudante, pues es el momento de cortar el papel en cuadritos y hacer las pequeñas bolitas que irás pegando, una junto a otra, bien juntas y hasta algo apretadas unas junto a otras. Esto es algo que se aprende en el proceso y se va ajustando según se aprecien los resultados.

For the next step of the process and depending on the size chosen and the time you want to dedicate to it, it may be convenient for you to have an assistant participate, since it is time to cut the paper into small squares and make the small balls that you will be gluing, one next to another, well together and even a little tight next to each other. This is something that is learned in the process and is adjusted as the results are appreciated.

Con este detalle final, espero que puedan apreciar el deterioro causado por el tiempo y posiblemente el descuido del artista al pegar las bolitas. Viendo el trabajo de manera crítica, y si alguien se siente motivado a emularlo, que considere emplear un marco más resistente en el borde y una vez terminado lo cubra con un cristal antireflejo para conservarlo en buen estado.
Se me ocurre que este trabajo puede resultar terapéutico para quienes sufren a causa de la vida acelerada o por el contrario se aburren y hasta para los que disfrutan de explotar las burbujas del plástico protector de embalar.

With this final detail, I hope you can appreciate the deterioration caused by time and possibly the carelessness of the artist when gluing the beads. Looking at the work critically, and if someone feels motivated to emulate it, consider using a stronger frame on the edge and once finished cover it with anti-reflective glass to keep it in good condition.
It occurs to me that this work can be therapeutic for those who suffer from fast-paced life or, on the contrary, are bored, and even for those who enjoy bursting the bubbles in the protective plastic wrap.
