Since a few months ago, my list of "photographic fetishes" has been swollen by something I always had at hand but perhaps never paid attention to. I am referring to tree barks, in which I have discovered a whole universe of colours, shapes, textures and eloquence.
Desde hace pocos meses, mi lista de "fetiches fotográficos" se ha visto engrosada por algo que siempre tuve a mano pero quizás nunca le presté atención. Me refiero a las cortezas de los arboles, en las cuales he descubierto todo un universo de colores, formas, texturas y elocuencia.
I know this may sound a bit strange, but since I came up with the idea of taking pictures of a thorny bark tree (called "Habillo" locally) tree barks have become part of my daily photography and at the same time they have provided me with base images from which I can literally "play" with the editing at will.
Sé que esto puede sonar un poco extraño, pero desde que se me ocurrió hacer fotos de un árbol de corteza espinosa (llamado "Habillo" localmente) las cortezas arbóreas se han convertido en parte de mi fotografía cotidiana y al mismo tiempo me han brindado imágenes base desde donde se puede literalmente "jugar" con la edición a placer.
Abstraction is always a difficult thing for me to handle, as I find it hard to conceive of photography without a specific message. But this has made me change my mind about it, because it seems to me that the implicit message in these images is more than palpable and speaks about the creative possibilities that the natural elements themselves offer us.
La abstracción es algo siempre difícil de manejar para mi, pues me cuesta concebir la fotografía sin un mensaje específico. Pero esto me ha hecho cambiar de opinión al respecto, porque me parece que el mensaje implícito en estas imágenes es más que palpable y habla sobre las posibilidades creativas que nos brindan los elementos naturales en sí mismos.
