For some reason, Washington DC's Metro stations makes me think of Dr. Strangelove. Not sure why, there's nothing like it in the movie that I recall. It does have a nice fallout shelter feel to it though, or perhaps a horizontal missile silo.
It was built in the middle of the Cold War so that could explain things. I can think of worse places to be stuck ridin' the storm out.
Between the abundance of people and the brutalist architecture it's a fun place to shoot. Plus it's nice to revisit (previsit?) the scenes of Fallout 3.
Since we don't seem to have reached the post stage of the apocalypse I was just shooting with a wide angle on my Nikon. Much of the light came from that center strip between the trains, when two were in the station at the same time it could get a bit interesting.
Sooner or later though you have to ride that great big elevator up to the sky.
