Friendship and My Best Friend

Friendship is one of the best elements that can be part of our lives. Through friendship, relationships of deep connection can be built, even stronger than family relationships. Friendship is present in all aspects of our daily lives and we can categorize them according to the quality, quantity, or strength of these relationships.

I was thinking if I should talk about my best friend for this call of @contra-reloj. And the thing is that he is a very special person to me and, although I am not selfish at all, that was not really the reason why I had my doubts. But to make value to the friendship with my friend, I asked him if I could talk about him in this publication.

La Amistad y Mi Mejor Amigo

La amistad es uno de los mejores elementos que pueden hacer parte de nuestras vidas. A través de la amistad, se pueden construir relaciones de profunda conexión, llegando incluso a ser mucho más fuertes que las relaciones familiares. La amistad está presente en todos los aspectos de nuestro diario vivir y podemos llegar a catalogarlas en función de la calidad, cantidad o fortaleza en estas relaciones.

Estaba pensando si debía hablar de mi mejor amigo para esta convocatoria de @contra-reloj. Y es que él es una persona demasiado especial para mí y, aunque no soy para nada egoísta, realmente esa no fue la razón por lo que tuve mis dudas. Pero para hacer valor a la amistad con mi amigo, le pregunté si podía hablar de él en esta publicación.

My best friend then tells me that he has no problem, that I could refer to myself as I prefer, and that I could tell the aspects that I considered important and that could contribute something to whoever might read these letters regarding our friendship. This is how I can tell you that I have many friends, although not exactly a best friend.

I consider myself a very faithful person and I have always maintained an open and sincere relationship with my friends. One aspect that characterizes me is that I am very given to loyalty and when I have been required to help a good friend, I have been there for my friends. But the relationship with this, my best friend, has been completely different. I consider him to have been the best companion I have had for many years and I have always been able to count on his sincere and attentive presence when I have needed him most.

Mi mejor amigo me dice entonces que no tiene ningún problema, que podía referirme cómo mejor lo prefiriera y que podría contar los aspectos que considerara importante y que pudieran aportar algo a quien pudiera leer estas letras en cuanto a nuestra amistad. Es así que puedo decirte que tengo muchas amistades, aunque no propiamente un mejor amigo.

Me considero una persona muy fiel y siempre he mantenido una relación abierta y sincera con mis amistades. Un aspecto que me caracteriza, es que soy muy dado a la lealtad y cuando se me ha requerido para ayudar a un buen amigo, allí he estado dispuesto para mis amistades. Pero la relación con este, mi mejor amigo, ha sido del todo distinta. Considero que ha sido la mejor compañía que he tenido durante muchos años y siempre he podido contar con su sincera y atenta presencia cuando más lo he necesitado.

My friend has helped me in many ways. I think one of the most important has been to learn to be grateful. With him, I have understood that no matter how difficult, complicated, or even dangerous a situation may become in our lives, being grateful and trusting in tomorrow, in the future, and in the best solution for each situation, will always allow us to find a positive resolution for us in all aspects. He has shown me that, in spite of being in very complicated situations, where even my life has been in danger, we can trust and be thankful for life, to be thankful for precisely that difficult situation that carries perhaps some lesson or learning for our journey through this earthly plane. My friend has taught me the importance of faith as an important and necessary value to face these strange times.

Mi amigo me ha ayudado en muchos aspectos. Creo que uno de los más importantes, ha sido el de aprender a estar agradecido. Con él he entendido, que por muy difícil, complicada o hasta peligrosa que pueda tornarse alguna situación en nuestras vidas, el estar agradecido y confiado en el mañana, en el futuro y en la mejor solución para cada situación, siempre nos permitirá poder encontrar una resolución positiva para nosotros en todos los aspectos. Él me ha mostrado que, a pesar de estar en situaciones muy complicadas, donde incluso mi vida ha podido estar en peligro, podemos confiar y agradecer por la vida, el agradecer por, precisamente esa situación difícil que lleva encerrada quizás alguna lección o aprendizaje para nuestro transitar por este plano terrenal. Mi amigo me ha enseñado la importancia de la fe como un valor importante y tan necesario para afrontar estos tiempos tan extraños.

I can always count on my best friend. Whenever I have needed him, he has always, without delay, come to me for support in times of distress and sincere and selfless guidance at times when I have had to make complicated decisions, even ones that led me to change the course of my life in just a few seconds. I can't find a way to repay my friend for so much love and dedication and, one thing is very clear between us, he doesn't need me to repay him for anything at all. This friend of mine is unique to me and I am sure that you can count on his friends too. Because my best friend is God.

Siempre puedo contar con mi mejor amigo. Cuando lo he necesitado, siempre, sin tardanza, ha acudido para brindarme soporte en los momentos de angustia y una guía sincera y desinteresada en momentos que he tenido que tomar decisiones complicadas, incluso que me llevaron a cambiar el curso de mi vida en apenas unos pocos segundos. No encuentro manera de pagarle a mi amigo tanto amor y entrega y, algo es muy claro entre nosotros, él no necesita que le pague absolutamente nada. Este amigo mío, es único para mí y estoy seguro, que tu también puedes contar con su amistad. Porque mi mejor amigo es Dios.
