Uno de los días más emocionantes que tuve fue casi iniciando la semana, cuando tuve que desplazarme hacia otra zona del lugar en donde estudio para poder realizar una práctica de laboratorio. Resulta ser que en la Escuela donde yo veo clases el equipo que necesitábamos emplear para poder realizar la práctica de esa semana se encontraba dañado y, definitivamente, la opción no era dejar de presentar esa práctica así que nuestro profesor pidió un permiso para poder realizar esta práctica en otro lugar donde tenían un equipo similar al que nosotros necesitábamos.

Yo jamás había ido a este lugar y cuando entré me quedé maravillada pues habían muchos equipos de ingeniería que yo nunca había manipulado y que, realmente, se veían geniales en vivo y directo. Antes de iniciar la práctica el profesor nos dio un pequeño recorrido por todo ese galpón y, por supuesto, como habían demasiadas cosas que me llamaron la atención, no dudé en tomar algunas fotografías geniales.

One of the most exciting days I had was almost at the beginning of the week, when I had to move to another area of the place where I study in order to perform a laboratory practice. It turns out that in the school where I see classes the equipment that we needed to use to perform the practice that week was damaged and, definitely, the option was not to stop presenting this practice so our teacher asked for a permit to perform this practice in another place where they had similar equipment to the one we needed.

I had never been to this place and when I entered I was amazed because there were many engineering equipment that I had never handled and that really looked great live and direct. Before starting the practice, the professor gave us a little tour of the whole shed and, of course, as there were too many things that caught my attention, I didn't hesitate to take some great pictures.

Una de mis amigas y compañera de laboratorio de toda la vida quería, literalmente, que le tomara fotografías en cada rincón de ese galpón. Para ser sincera, yo me destaco es fotografiando alimentos y objetos, no personas...pero realmente las fotografías que le tomé quedaron geniales y ella quedó satisfecha, tanto así que no dudó en compartirlas en su Instagram.

Por otro lado, yo no estaba dispuesta a posar pero ella insistió en querer tomarme algunas fotografías. Cuando vi las fotografías que ella me tomó, sólo reí un poco porque, ¿no les ha pasado que ustedes les toman unas fotografías geniales a sus amigos, tipo de revista, pero cuando ellos los fotografían a ustedes el resultado es borroso, desenfocado o simplemente los fotografiaron en su peor pose y desde su peor ángulo? Eso siempre me pasa y esta vez no fue la excepción. Así que puedo decir que de varias fotografías que ella me tomó, rescaté sólo una que sí quedó genial.

One of my friends and lifelong lab partner literally wanted me to take pictures of her in every corner of that shed. To be honest, I excel at photographing food and objects, not people...but the pictures I took were really great and she was satisfied, so much so that she didn't hesitate to share them on her Instagram.

On the other hand, I wasn't willing to pose but she insisted on wanting to take some pictures of me. When I saw the pictures she took of me, I just laughed a little because, hasn't it happened to you that you take great pictures of your friends, magazine type, but when they photograph you the result is blurry, out of focus or they just photographed you in your worst pose and from your worst angle? That always happens to me and this time was no exception. So I can say that out of several pictures she took of me, I rescued only one that turned out great.

Pasemos ahora a otro día de la semana.

Les cuento que siempre he tenido cierto gusto por forrar mis cuadernos de clase. Sí, lo sé, estoy puede sonar algo extraño viniendo de una chica universitaria, pero lo cierto es que me encanta que mis cuadernos tengan portadas lindas y originales.

Este gusto comenzó cuando me encontraba en la secundaria, cuando ya el papel contac estampado había pasado de moda para mí y cuando descubrí que los collages digitales que yo misma elaboraba también podían ser una opción bastante original para forrar la carátula del cuaderno. Esto es más un tema de gustos personales que cualquier otra cosa. Muchos de mis amigos me dicen que no le ven sentido alguno al hecho de forrar un cuaderno y menos un cuaderno que usas en las prácticas de laboratorio y que se terminará ensuciando de cualquier reactivo que utilices. Y sí, probablemente tengan razón, pero si compro un cuaderno con una carátula aburrida, eso no producirá en mí ningún efecto de motivación o algo así por el estilo.

Es extraño, pero siempre ha estado en mí ese instinto de querer decorar las cosas en función a mis gustos personales y, de cierta manera, eso me hace sentir bien. Así que esta semana terminé forrando mi cuaderno a mí estilo. Por la carátula frontal tenemos un collage genial de varias pinturas famosas, entre ellas El nacimiento de Venus, El grito y La Persistencia de la Memoria y por la carátula trasera tenemos otro collage, pero de algunas estructuras arquitectónicas que me llaman la atención...¿qué les parece?, quedó bastante genial el cuaderno, ¿no?

Let's move on to another day of the week.

I tell you that I have always liked to cover my class notebooks. Yes, I know, this may sound a little strange coming from a college girl, but the truth is that I love my notebooks to have nice and original covers.

This taste started when I was in high school, when the stamped contact paper had gone out of fashion for me and when I discovered that the digital collages that I made myself could also be a very original option to cover the cover of the notebook. This is more a matter of personal taste than anything else. Many of my friends tell me that they don't see any point in lining a notebook, let alone a notebook that you use in lab practicals and that will end up getting dirty from whatever reagents you use. And yes, they're probably right, but if I buy a notebook with a boring cover, that won't produce any motivational effect on me or anything like that.

It's strange, but it's always been in me that instinct to want to decorate things according to my personal tastes and, in a way, that makes me feel good. So this week I ended up lining my notebook in my own style. On the front cover we have a great collage of several famous paintings, among them The Birth of Venus, The Scream and The Persistence of Memory and on the back cover we have another collage, but of some architectural structures that catch my attention...what do you think, the notebook is pretty cool, isn't it?

La semana pasada también hice mi primer pedido de comida a través de la aplicación Pedidos Ya. Realmente yo nunca -por mi propia cuenta- había realizado un pedido por medio de este tipo de aplicaciones, primero porque no soy de pedir comida por delivery y la única forma de comer comida que no sea preparada en casa es que vaya a un restaurante pues de esta forma siento que disfruto más de la comida del lugar. En segundo lugar, soy un poco quisquillosa y tal vez desconfiada, pues siempre había pensado que con este tipo de entregas a domicilio algo podía salir mal.

Lo cierto es que me atreví a pedir mi primera comida a domicilio, pues vi que tenía algunos cupones de descuento y los quise aprovechar. Para mi sorpresa el pedido llegó sumamente rápido y la comunicación con el local de comida siempre fue muy efectiva. Claro está que no pedí una gran comida, en realidad mi pedido fue una ligera meriendita pero supongo que por algo se empieza, ¿no? Pedí unos roles de canela que estaban divinos e increíblemente frescos. Me alivió saber que esta franquicia de postres no ha disminuido su calidad.

Last week I also placed my first food order through the Pedidos Ya app. Actually I had never -on my own- placed an order through this kind of apps, firstly because I am not a delivery person and the only way to eat food that is not prepared at home is to go to a restaurant because this way I feel that I enjoy the food of the place more. Secondly, I'm a little bit quisquillosa and perhaps distrustful, because I had always thought that with this type of home delivery something could go wrong.

The truth is that I dared to order my first home-delivered meal, since I saw that they had some discount coupons and I wanted to take advantage of them. To my surprise the order arrived extremely fast and the communication with the food store was always very effective. Of course I didn't order a big meal, actually my order was a small snack but I guess you have to start somewhere, right? I ordered some cinnamon rolls which were divine and incredibly fresh. I was relieved to know that this dessert franchise has not diminished in quality.

Y por último, pero no menos importante, en el lab aprendimos una técnica nueva, no partí nada del material de laboratorio y muestra problema se comportó muy amable conmigo...¡todo resultó de maravilla! Este laboratorio, aunque es un poco pesado y demanda gran parte de mi tiempo, me está gustando muchísimo, además de que he aprendido cosas muy interesantes.

And last but not least, in the lab we learned a new technique, I didn't split any of the lab material and sample problem behaved very nicely with me...everything turned out great! This lab, even though it is a bit heavy and demands a lot of my time, I am really enjoying it and I have learned some very interesting things.
