Because my people have done two evils: they left me, the source of living water, and dug for themselves cisterns, broken cisterns that do not hold water. Is Israel a servant? Is he a slave? Why has he come to be prey?
Jeremiah 2:13-14.

here we see very clearly the evils that the Lord highlights in his word, evils committed by his people and has led them to their spiritual ruin, this has been the rejection of God as a source of living water and after this, his people have dug cisterns that could not hold water because they were broken.

God's desire is always and has always been to bless his people, but his people took away faith and trust in God and placed it in Egypt and Assyria. Being that God had sustained them from the exit of Egypt to the promised land, the people went astray by not consulting God.

Jesus answered and said to her: Whoever drinks this water will thirst again; but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.
John 4:13-14.

From the moment that man rejects God, he immediately creates an idol according to his desires, inclinations and passions, then he looks for that god to satisfy his needs, but they never find satisfaction, this is the example of create their own cisterns that do not hold water. We will not be full, happy or completely confident until we place our trust in God and his word, we must stop being guided only by our own prudence and let ourselves be guided by God.

Christ is compared to the source of living water, and from that living water we will NEVER thirst again, that water will vivify us forever, in this way we can avoid falling into the error into which his people fell of substituting the true Fountain of life. Let us leave the slavery of sin and live in freedom in Christ, let us remain FIRM in that freedom, let us not fluctuate.

Stand firm, then, in the freedom with which Christ made us free, and do not be subject again to the yoke of slavery.

Porque dos males ha hecho mi pueblo: me dejaron a mí, fuente de agua viva, y cavaron para sí cisternas, cisternas rotas que no retienen agua. ¿Es Israel siervo? ¿Es esclavo? ¿Por qué ha venido a ser presa?
Jeremías 2:13-14.

aquí vemos de manera muy clara los males que el Señor resalta en su palabra, males cometidos por su pueblo y los ha llevado a su ruina espiritual, esto ha sido el rechazo de Dios como fuente de agua viva y posterior a esto, su pueblo ha cavado cisternas que No podían contener el agua porque estaban rotas.

El deseo de Dios es siempre y ha sido siempre bendecir a su pueblo, pero su pueblo quitó la fe y confianza a Dios y la puso en Egipto y Asiria. Siendo que Dios les había sostenido desde la salida de Egipto hasta la tierra prometida, El pueblo de desvió por dejar de consultar a Dios.

Respondió Jesús y le dijo: Cualquiera que bebiere de esta agua, volverá a tener sed; mas el que bebiere del agua que yo le daré, no tendrá sed jamás; sino que el agua que yo le daré será en él una fuente de agua que salte para vida eterna.
Juan 4:13-14.

A partir del momento en que el hombre rechaza a Dios, inmediatamente se crea un ídolo conforme a sus deseos, inclinaciones y pasiones, entonces busca que ese dios le satisfaga sus necesidades, pero nunca encuentran satisfacción, este es el ejemplo de crear sus propias cisternas que no retienen agua. No estaremos plenos, felices o completamente confiados hasta colocar nuestra confianza en Dios y su palabra, debemos dejar de ser guiados solo por nuestra propia prudencia y dejarnos guiar por Dios.

Cristo es comparado a la fuente de agua viva, y de esa agua viva NUNCA mas tendremos sed, esa agua nos vivificará para siempre, de esta manera podemos evitar caer en el error en el que cayó su pueblo de sustituir la verdadera fuente de vida. Dejemos la esclavitud del pecado y vivamos en libertad en Cristo, permanezcamos en esa libertad FIRMES, no fluctuemos.

Estad, pues, firmes en la libertad con que Cristo nos hizo libres, y no estéis otra vez sujetos al yugo de esclavitud.
