The insecurity issue in Nigeria has become bitter to me. Nowadays we get scared of staying in our house not to talk of going outside, the fear of being stopped by the police or thugs on the streets is just too bitter to think about.

Just yesterday my neighbour's home got robbed while she was in church. The thief got into the house through the air conditioner, took her most valuable possession and got away before she came back from church.

There is an ongoing election in one of the states of the country(Anambra state), the level of insecurity going on in that region is so bitter to talk about. A group known as 'the unknown gunmen' is wreaking havoc in the state.

Also, another set of groups called the Indigenous Peoples Of Biafra(IPOB) are protesting demanding a referendum from the federal government to let them go and become a country of their own.

There have been so many cases of attack in the region, between the military force and the unknown gunmen, these attacks have been going on constantly putting the people of that region in danger.

Some threats have been made against the ongoing election in the region stating the election is not going to be allowed to hold. This made the government send more defence forces to safeguard the electoral officials.

Many jobs have been lost, businesses destroyed, innocent lives lost, this is bitter to think about, it's not even safe for people to go and vote because of the level of insecurity.

The government on the other hand is not doing anything to solve the ongoing issues in the region, no meaningful step has been taken and I think this only gives the IPOB more willpower to push for the referendum. If this keeps up it won't be safe to stay in the region anymore.

I just hope things get better soon and the region gets back to being peaceful again. Hope you all have a wonderful week ahead.
