The weekend lifestyle

You must have heard what people say about Saturdays being unbelievably tedious with a lot of adulting and other household routines that take up most of their day.

Can you all relate to that?

My Saturdays can be many things but being boring or tedious is barely an option. I genuinely can't afford to have a tedious Saturday or weekend as a whole. Not after the type of busyness that hits me each week and not after the experience I've had in the past due to my desperation to earn a living.

You see, before I got the privilege to get into the things we do in a blockchain setting, I've always been the type that works endlessly. Back in 2018/2019 when I was running a tutorial institute, I worked every day of the week including Sundays. I had wild desperation to earn and I was giving it everything. In the course of this desperation, every day became the same in my sight. No time to rest or fix a decent meal.

I adopted the same pattern when I worked in a Nigerian commercial bank in 2020 as a Corp member. This time around, I genuinely wanted to have some me-time. I was becoming more mature and I was beginning to understand the importance of taking a break. I tried, but the system didn't permit that lifestyle. The typical lifestyle that was permitted for bankers is a routine that involves going to work when it's too early to see who is walking beside you and coming back home when it is too late to step your feet in the right spots.

So much for a Banking job! It was annoyingly disturbing because I felt caged in that working environment. I wasn't even there as a proper staff but the pressure from the work was eating deep into my marrows. Funny enough, I studied Banking and Finance. Lol. No one prepared me for what it takes to be a banker in this part of the world.

The threat of Covid19 became serious after my first few weeks in the bank. Lockdowns were initiated and during this long duration of lockdown, my eyes opened to soft skills. I did a couple of research, got connected to the right people and the rest is history.

Now, I can afford to take a break when the need arises.

I get to play around in the kitchen when I feel like eating homemade meals. I also enjoy the splendour of travelling whenever the adventurous part of me kicks in. I've got a very long way to go before I can fully admit that I'm living the life I want, but I'm on the right path.

To be fair, not all my weekend plans takes shape the way I want. There are times when I would want to take a break but end up spending extra hours on work - cus I love the stuff I do. Hehe. This particular Saturday is a mixture of both work and fun, and I'm loving it.
