I love seeing a giant tree sticking up above other trees that could be considered live. They are standing tall over a sea of green, proud sentient creatures that move on another time and scale than us. We have no idea of the the knowledge in these old giants, what they have, felt and witnessed over time. This one is at the foot of a ruined Dutch fort in Butre, Ghana. I wonder how many slavers ships and souls departed from mother Africa it has witnessed. And how it managed to be saved from turning into another timber on one of these ships.
