Tunnel Vision (POB WOTW #3)

Was there a goal you want to reach? Something you've been trying to work on despite knowing that it's too difficult to achieve?

Few days ago, I was mentioned by @anaclark on her post inviting me to join Proof of Brain's POB Word of the Week. The Word of the Week contest was initiated by calumam. Each week, a word will be given and you will have to make a content with it. For the third week, the word presented is "Persistence".

(Actually the contest for week 3 is already over and I didn't realize it until right now when I am about to make this post. 😂 Anyway, might as well still post it because I've already finished writing it.)

I was inspired by Ana with her poem. It's been years when I last tried writing a poem, so for my "entry", I have tried composing a poem which I call, "Tunnel Vision".

Tunnel Vision

Pitch-black road
What a dread
Pitch-black road
Still she treads

Like a jungle at night
With blinding darkness
Still choosing to fight
Oh, what is this madness!

Uncharted roads
It makes her anxious
But when the heart explodes
Forward moves her shoes

"You're crazy!" they rally
"Get back to reality!" they worry
Surrounded by a jury
This dream, she'll hold on and carry

Peering eyes gazing at each move
Waiting for her downfall
She doesn't have to prove
She leaves with an eyeroll

"You can't!", she says "I can!"
Discouraged and dragged down
She proceeds with the plan
Until she reaches the crown

Weighed down by shackles
With every step
She gambles
A vision she kept

In silence, she commenced
Like a whisper, she will ascend
Up beyond the fenced
Up beyond the dead end

When no one believes
When no one understands
When no one cheers her up
When no one lends a hand

Yet she believed she can
Yet she understood it's a process
Yet her quivering lips turns a smile
Yet her faith becomes her sword.

With shaking hands she grasped
In the eye of the storm
Above she looked
She will transform

Giving up is never her option
Focusing on the illumination
She knew with pure dedication
Difficult roads lead to beautiful destination

In her heart it crackles
Wearing the scars of her battles
Standing at the pinnacle, a winner
The only thing that matters.

Persistence is something everyone needs and must observe to reach their goals. Without it, our goals and dreams will remain distant.

I am someone who loves to dream and has a couple of goals in life. And it hurts when some people take your goals lightly just because it's different from theirs or what is seemed "normal" for the majority of the society. But then recently, I've taught myself not to get swayed by the opinions of those people, instead, use them to get me more motivated to push harder towards my goals. They do not understand the value and importance of my goals simply because it's not theirs.

We have our own paths, and whatever road we choose to take, walk on it with your eyes dead set on the finish line.

And for all of us here, may we all achieve our goals someday. May the fire in our hearts never die. :)
