Flying Day Again!
#wednesdaywalk today is to document our journey back from Kuching to Kuala Lumpur. There was some "drama" too in our journey. So it was more like a Wednesday flight more than a walk though we did walk a lot in the 2 airports.
Finally the unavoidable day 8 has come. It is time to leave my hometown to go home to Kuala Lumpur. My firstborn has been counting down a bit sadly. I too was a bit sad but I guess I can regulate it better than a poor child.
Our flight was scheduled to be at 430pm. Fingers crossed no more delay or changes. So I had been packing up since the morning. Had to put in some extra food my parents and family gave to bring back. They also know we will miss home.
After packing was done, I had to oversee the boys to eat an earlier lunch so they both can take a short nap to endure a longer day. The flight itself is only 1.5 hours to 1 hour 40 minutes but the journey from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport to home can be another 1.5 hours itself, which I haven't included in the waiting time for boarding.
Good thing the boys cooperated. Before leaving the house, I asked everyone to take photo with my parents and the boys with their favorite dog respectively.
Photos with my parents before leaving them again.
My parents and their grandchildren.
Left house and reached the airport. Bidded goodbyes to the mum who sent us and then found out all the self check in kiosks all could not print boarding passes. So there was some hiccup here. They then allow us to use our e-boarding passes, phew.
After going through some immigration checks and baggage scan, suddenly the worst thing of the trip happened. My secondborn had a meltdown. Maybe he was still tired or something he wanted but we didn't get what it was. He lied on the floor outside the lift crying and just wouldn't move. I tried to carry him but he just cried on and on, not wanitng anyone to touch him. I saw time running up and tried to pacify him or rather distract him with trying to buy him his favorite M&Ms but he still didn't stop. Took us a whole lot of effort and many pairs of eyes staring our way but I know he also could not help it. Maybe he got overwhelmed by the change of environement again. I don't blame him but I empathize with him as much as I could. It is okay to let him process his emotions and feelings as these feelings are big.
Finally and suddenly, he just switched his mood like that. He accepted the M&Ms and walked in the plane like a boss.
All buckled up!
Saw the ground staff bringing our stroller down for storage.
Can you tell he was still not so happy?
Anyway, bye bye Kuching, see you again.
Here are some photos I took when we were high up in the sky. The flight back Kuching was in the night so we missed all the clouds in the sky. Thank God for good weather so we saw it all today.
Even saw a fleet of ships from above.
The secondborn who sat with me was a bit grumpy so he lied on my lap until he slowly fell asleep. Not sure if it was the air pressure changes bothering him.
The firstborn had no problem flying. He totally enjoyed it and not affected by the air pressure change whatsoever. He went on drawing and drawing.
As we were about to land, we were greeted by the sun setting too.
After 1.5 hours, we were out of the plane and went to the baggage collection area.
So glad that the secondborn woke up feeling better after his short nap.
We had another hiccup when we could not find our stroller. Oh dear, it was sent to the oversized baggage section. After so many different happenings, finally we met the family, my brother-in-law's family who met us for dinner at the airport.
I know my eldest son was feeling tired and perhaps a bit sad, as he told me, "I am going to miss Kuching very much Mummy but I know I can always go back there." That is true son. I am just glad we managed to make it back to Kuching this time.
We drove another near 2-hour journey to reach home from the airport. By the time we reached, it was already near 10pm.
