Poppies by the road

Hello everyone, it's a perfect time for a Wednesday walk again. 🙂 This is my entry for the #wednesdaywalk challenge, hosted by @tattoo-djay.

While walking through my neighborhood every day, I always stop by the poppies. Or at least keep my eyes on them.

These flowers are a source of inspiration. They amaze me with their red color and their wild growth.

Sometimes they look so lonely. They evoke sad feelings in me when I see them growing out of the cracks in the concrete, by the roadside, in the dust.

Despite that, they are beautiful. Through their airy petals, the sun breaks through. They make us happy, spontaneously with their beauty, and break the monotony of the environment.

But no one picks them. People believe they are poisonous. This makes them free to grow so unattractive to people without fear that someone will destroy them and separate them from the ground. Unattractive, yet attractive, they stand proudly by the road.

No one cares about them, unlike the roses that caught my attention along the way.

The roses are fenced, in their beautiful colorful garden. People water them and they grow in their beauty. Poppies are waiting for the rain. They are left to their own.

It is fascinating that this plant has been used in the past to put children to sleep and calm them down. This is not a bad thing to know. 🙂 Poppies contain some alkaloids and because of that, they have a mild sedative and analgesic effect. This plant has traditionally been used to treat insomnia, nervousness, baldness, and various infections, as well as in the diet because the seeds are rich in protein and oils. Caution is advised when using the leaves due to possible alkaloid intoxication.

Nature always finds a way to delight us, even when we least expect it, on the city concrete, by the roadside giving us this magnificent flower.
