Today was a beautiful blue sky day. It was the perfect day for a walk in a park. There are many parks in the city but I chose to visit Beatrixpark which is named after the previous queen of the Netherlands.
The park was originally created in the 1930's and renamed after the war. Despite its wartime origins, it has a romantic feel to it.
There is a small lake with a fountain,
and nearby are colorful rhododendroms.
This open landscape area is perfect for picnics
or these areas under the trees.
My favourite spots are any grassy areas under the numerous weeping willows.
The park is always clean and quiet except on days like this when families take their children to the small swimming pool by the pavilion. Photos are not allow unless you are with your children. Here is a glimpse of the pavilion by the "ice-cream and snack place."
Look at these majestic trees - they have claimed there spots and do not go unnoticed.
I also love this area which is left a bit more wild. It looks like the grass is dusted with something yellow - yes - they are creeping buttercups.
It is a great place to visit by foot or bicycle on these well defined cycling paths
or by boat on the bordering canal.
If you would like to truly have peace and quiet - walk through these arches-
there is also a spot for you - in the medicinal herbal garden.
I hope you enjoyed my walk to one of my favorite places !!
