Birdwatcher's Log : 05.07.22

Finally I went to the forest! It rained all month, every day, and finally dry weather.
First of all, I went to see how the offspring of birds is. It's time for the fledglings to appear. And at the same time find out if the strawberries are ripe in the forest.

These are not processed or edited photos (except for photos from the phone), but screenshots of raw files. Therefore, photos can look dark, noisy, and ugly. I have a huge queue of photos to edit, I just want to share new photos with you.

The road to the forest goes through the old cemetery.

When I entered the cemetery, I met a redstart. The male was sitting on the fence and screamed with displeasure when he saw me.

Going a little further, an oriole flew out of the grass. Also a male. He caught a caterpillar and ate it.

And on the path a young pied flycatcher caught her lunch.

And when I was passing by dense thickets, I heard a voice unfamiliar to me. It was like the voice of a gray warbler, but there was something different about it. I climbed into the bushes with the ore and began to look around. I saw movement, yes, it's that bird. I looked through the lens and saw that it was a siberian blue robin. This is the first time I meet this bird here, and in general for the first time I see it so close!

Oh, how difficult it was to get these photos ... About 1 hour and 10 minutes I stayed at this place trying to seize the moment to photograph this incredibly shy bird.

And so I finally came to the forest. Near the forest in a clearing there was a family of siberian stonechat from a female, a male, and three fledglings.

And nearby, a gray warbler was grumbling with displeasure.

In the forest itself, I expected to meet many great tits with youngsters. They followed their parents, noisily begging for food, and tried to find it on their own by searching the leaves.

Redstart parents were on guard, because their very young fledglings were nearby.

This couple sat pressed against each other and waited for their parents to feed them.

Near the path, I saw tufts of hare hair. It's strange... It's already July, summer, the molting of the hares should have already passed. I took one piece in my hand, it is dry. There were no signs of violence, which means that it was not a predator that tore the skin of a hare. Of the predators in this forest, only stray dogs, but they would hardly be able to catch up with the hare. Moreover, this wool is not simple on the path. Hares are known for their obfuscation of their tracks, and they do it in a masterly sly manner. In the path along which they all go to make it easier, the smells mix. Therefore, it seems to me that the hares, namely the pair that I saw on my last walk in these places, simply combed out the remnants of wool from themselves.

So I came to a place where every year I collect delicious wild strawberries. Yes, it is already ripe and you can collect it, which I will do next week.

On the way back I met a blyth reed warbler, she sang her song loudly in the bushes.
