My watercolor: Staring at the summer sky among flowers

Today I saw @armandosodano 's fruity picture (@armandosodano/between-earth-sky-and-water-watercolor-on-paper) and it got me in the mood for some more watercolor painting. Although I am far from his knowledge, he inspires me a lot, I'm so grateful he is frequently sharing his wonderful watercolors!

I don't know what the official name for this flower is, but I call it a butterfly flower because it's light as air and the petals are like to butterfly wings. It grows in the ditch banks in the village, you don't need to plant it because it sheds its seeds. It is undemanding, even withstanding the dryness quite well. It comes in several colors, the most common being crimson and pink.
From the perspective of a small mouse or frog, it forms a forest reaching to the sky, contrasting with the blue sky and white clouds, but its delicate petals are translucent in the sun.

We can learn a lot from this simple but beautiful flower, especially gratitude, love and joy of life.
It was also a pleasure to paint, especially with a light technique, not insisting on details, just capturing the mood.

The centre of the image is the sky(zenith), and the edges are tilted towards the ground.
It makes almost no difference how you flip the picture. Even if you're lying down looking at the sky, it makes no difference to the view which way your head is pointing.
In this case I still felt a horizontal landscape layout was better.

I started with light, small patches of sky blue. I wasn't aiming for a homogeneous blue, as the sheep clouds swam in, obscuring the sun a little.

The shapes of flowers dissolve in the blue of the sky.

A few more definitive brush strokes and blotches, and the picture was done!
