I just hope I am not late for this #freewrite prompt word titled "BURN OUT".
Jim has just crossed over the adolescence stage and now in the adulthood stage. How happy she was but no one ever told her of the responsibilities awaiting her especially that she is the first born of her family. She has a little kid sister still in Nursery class. Her mother is a trader who sells to help support her husband who was just sacked from office some weeks back.
Life has been tough for the family but they just have to keep struggling to make money, at least to eat for the day.
Jim went out in search for a job to also help her parents as she couldn't continue with her education. Finally, she was able to get a Job as a computer operator in the nearby city not too far from her house.
Thank God I wouldn't be spending money on transport, I can easily trek few minutes and I am at work, she said. Though they pay her little money every week but she just want to support her family.
She started her work fully the next Monday and she is always the first to get to the office before others and for some months, she has been doing fine until they had to reduce her salary because according to the company, business isn't flowing as before.
Jim wanted more money and so she started researching some Earning site online which she bumped into a long time friend on Facebook who later introduced her to a platform as a writer.
Hello Jim, can you come home right now? Your father is so ill and needs money to be taken to the hospital. Those moments her salary were reduced, she didn't tell her parents so they don't start thinking.
Her mother called and she was so devastated that she doesn't know what to do or how to take permission from her boss. Her boss is so strict that once you resume office, you aren't allowed to go out until the close of the day.
Before she could explain to her mom, she has hanged up. Only God knows who could be happening right now, she muttered in her mind.
She quickly begged her colleague to stand in for her as she needed to run home as fast as she could. When she got home, they told her the name of the hospital they took her father too and immediately she boarded a bike that took her to the entrance of the hospital's gate.
She was later told to pay some money in advance before the treatment would commence. She dropped everything on her. Thank God the operation was successful and her dad was discharged after three days.
Though Jim lost her Job because she didn't take permission from the boss. She has to return back to square one but thank God she has registered on the platform her friend introduced to her and she was doing fine by posting and interacting as well.
Jim would wake up at midnight to prepare her article and get ready to resume fully when she is through with her chores at home. She is the one taking her sister to school every morning which she then comes back to do her chores, cook for the family.
Her mother would always ask for money from her because she already explained her new found online Job to her. With all of these responsibilities, she kept working hard more online to at least make extra amount of what she is getting.
One night, she was working online as usual when she suddenly burned out and had migraine with headache. She couldn't take it anymore and she slept off.
Waking up the next day, her temperature was hot and was taken to the hospital which the doctor prescribed drugs for her. She became okay thereafter and continued her work which she was doing fine.
