Da Nang memories

There is a famous city in central Vietnam with long white sandy beaches, amazing architecture, beautiful pagodas, and an ancient town full of history. That city should be on any traveller’s list when visiting Vietnam, and of course I’m talking about Da Nang.

Points of Interest in Da Nang city

Da Nang is really famous for its long, white sandy beaches with clear and enticing water. It also boasts some attractive architecture on buddhist sites, bridges, and buildings or places for historical and cultural value. The best time to visit Da Nang is from May to September when the sun isn’t too strong and the sea is more calm.

My Khe Beach

Bordering the city centre is a long, beautiful beach with lines of coconut trees leading on to white sand . Tourist can go swimming in the beautiful blue sea, enjoy the sunshine, or partake in some fun beach activities like surfing, snorkeling, fishing, jet-skiing, or beach volleyball. There are also many impressive restaurants, bars and hotels lining the beach strip.

Dragon bridge

Shaped like a dragon crouching on a bridge crossing the romantic Han river, Dragon bridge is a really impressive architectural feat as well as a famous symbol of the city. Every night the bridge performs a light show, and on weekends the dragon even blows fire from its mouth!

Golden Bridge

Another interesting bridge is built on the top of a mountain called Ba Na hill. The unique bridge is held by giant hand statues, resembling that of a giant’s hands holding up the footpath. From the bridge you can take in the fantastic landscape of the mountains and Da Nang city under the floating clouds.

Linh Ung Pagoda
The architecture of Buddhism in Da Nang also deeply impresses tourists especially those who worship Buddhism . From My Khe beach in Da Nang central you can clearly see a giant white Buddha statue standing on the mountains in Son Tra peninsula. That is Linh Ung pagoda, where people think that if they pray honesty, all their dreams can come true.

Belonging to Quang Nam province, throughout history Hoi An had been a commercial port. Many merchantmen from expat Traders around the world came to exchange goods, then sadly it was eventually destroyed by the subsequent wars. Luckily, Hoi An has since been rebuilt and preserves its old traditional architecture and culture.

From Da Nang centre tourists can take a local bus or hire a motorbike to get to Hoi An, which is about 35 km away. Hoi An is known for its architecture featuring old shop houses built in traditional Chinese and French Colonial style from the 40s; with yellow walls and mossy tile roofs. Locals people use the old houses for restaurants, coffee shops, tailors, and souvenirs. Every night a walking street in old town comes to life and traffic is forbidden so visitors can enjoy the amazing scenery of Hoi An with its beautiful lanterns and peaceful atmosphere. Boats float down the canal releasing lanterns that glow on the water, creating the ambiance of Hoi An hundreds year ago.
