HODLing for the sake of HODLing or?

Being a crypto investor doesn't come easily, my experience for being involved in crypto calls for a lot of discipline, taking full responsibility and above all you've got to manage your funds unless you are the type still wanting others to manage your funds while you pay them which I think you might as well stick to the current financial system like banking and the associated crap.

It is a strategy for holding one's coins through volatile markets no matter what. Cryptocurrency can see some major pullbacks, hence the dear life part. When the crypto bear comes out, it can feel like one's world is coming to an end.

With the definition of HODL out of the way the question is what is worth HODLing and for how long?

The dilemma I get when I look at my Hive Engine tokens can't be overstated, I dislike the fact that most of my HE tokens are laying around without being put to use, the excuse to myself is they increase by the day as I accumulate more. Some can be put to work by providing liquidity but not all and others are just too minimal to to provide liquidity with. Therefore I get to have some traded for another at times for better performance.

Looking at Hive, LEO, SPS it is a different story, I know why am HODLing, not only is HODLing for price appreciation being the motive but the more of it I accumulate the more I earn from curation rewards which in turn gives better ROI amongst other benefits.
The system in place on Hive makes managing these tokens a lot easier in that regard.

Basically you want to HODL asset(s) knowing it is well worth HODLing and not just for the sake of it.
In most cases exercising patience, allowing the particular asset to appreciate in value is one sensible reason to HODL Bitcoin for example.

Financial target might be another reason which shouldn't necessarily be over a long period of time, taking profits during the bullish season when target is reached might be the motive.

Seating with a truck load of shitcoins with no value or use case and hoping it moons while developing the hardest of diamond hands around it is basically HODLing for the sake of HODLing which the moon might be too for of a distance to reach.

It basically boils down to why is an asset worth HODLing, for the sake of HODLing or capable of withstanding the next crypto market crash?
