"They're out to get me", Al thought to himself as he drove the street after midnight "I have spent years studying them, and they know that. I am so close to exposing them".
"I can't eat, I can't sleep", Al remembered telling his friend, Lauren "It's all I think about"
"You need to let it go", Lauren responded "You might be misinterpreting it or not, all I know is that it's driving you crazy"
"I can't", Al surrendered to his thoughts "They deceived millions of people and made millions of dollars"
Al slowed his car in front of the movies theatre, pondering the name Lightyear, the movie premiering the next day.
"I can't believe they got away with it", Al remembered telling Lauren "They got nominated for awards for it, Rotten Tomatoes gave them a 98% approval rate"
"Are you still talking about Toy Story 3?", Lauren worried.
"Yes! Of course, I am!", Al explained "They just rehashed the same script from Toy Story 2 like it was nothing"
"Maybe you're just overthinking it", Lauren justified.
"No! I am not!", Al elaborated "Think about it, both movies had Woody look untrustworthy to the other toys even though he was right before. Both had an old toy on a cane looking wise at the beginning then turned out to be the villain of the movie. It's just the same script"
"Okay, so?", Lauren wondered.
"Don't you get it?", Al tried to explain "They brought in the screenplay writer of Little Miss Sunshine who just rewrote Toy Story 2 with minor changes, and nominated him at the Oscars for the best-adapted screenplay! They know what they're doing"
Al got lost in his memory, having flashbacks about his girlfriend, Selena, leaving him due to his obsession. Al's car hit a fire hydrant, prompting him back from his world of memory.
"Are you okay?", a concerned citizen rushed to help Al as he stepped outside of the car with bottom lip bleeding. Al put his hands on the man's shoulder to keep standing.
"Do you remember the movie Toy Story 3?", Al asked the man.
"Uhm, yes", the man responded "It essentially for all ages as it had a lot of creativity"
"IT WAS THE SAME MOVIE AS TOY STORY 2!!!", Al shouted "Please tell me you didn't take your kids to watch it"
"I did", the man responded "I took my three children to watch it, it was the best seventy dollars I spent that year"
"Why?", Al exclaimed "You could have just saved that money by watching the second one at home"
"Whatever, man", the man walked away.
Al looked around to see himself standing in front of the Pixar headquarter. He stared at a big statue of Buzz Lightyear smirking.
"I know what you did", Al screamed "I KNOW WHAT YOU DID!"
Four Years Later
"I am glad you have finally moved on from that obsession", Selena said to Al as they were having lunch with Lauren.
"Yes, I still behind what I said", Al replied "But it is not worth obsessing over"
"Hey!", Lauren said while staring at her phone "Did you guys know Pixar is dropping a new Buzz Lightyear movie later this year"
"Lauren, don't", Selena objected.
"No, no, wait", Al interrupted "What's the premise?"
"Oh!', Selena said hesitantly "It's just a focus on Buzz Lightyear origin story"
"So, it's just like the one back in 2022", realized as Selena and Lauren's voices turned into a background white noise.
