A girl holds a black doll in her hands as a cake with five candles stared at her.

"Aren't you going to cut the cake?"

"Cheer up it's your birthday!"

"Never seen such a weirdo."

Few years later the same scenario repeats itself, this time it was eight candles on the cake.

"Can someone put a smile on her face"

"She will ruin the pictures with her frown."

"Does this one ever smile."

Few years later the same scenario repeats itself. The girl looked up and saw two women obviously talking about her. They didn't Look so happy, as they took turns to give her angry glances. Couple minutes later, one of the lady walks up to her and dragged her by the hand and puts her in a car.

"Rose what is wrong with you, Do you want to remain in the orphanage home for the rest of your life?"

The lady didn't look so happy as she tried her best to concentrate on the road while the girl remained silent.

"Every family you are sent to always returns you, complaining of how you are always sad and bringing darkness to their family."

"Rose you are going to have to speak to me at some point. What you is your deal with being so stiff on your birthdays anyways?"

"Aunt stella, none of those families want me there. They just use my sadness as an excuse to get rid of. Besides I'm not comfortable with the idea of coming up with a random date and forcing me to celebrate my birthday."

"What do you mean random date, today is your birthday."

"No, Aunt Mary says today is the day I was brought to the orphanage."

"It's pretty much the same thing."

"No it's not, I'd rather not celebrate birthday than have it celebrated on the wrong day."

Nobody understood Rose. All she wanted was to celebrate her birthday on her actual birth day. She wanted to cut her birthday cake with her real family holding her hands. She wanted to know why she was abandoned in an orphanage home. With time she finally left the orphanage and started to fend for herself.

Few years later, there she lay on her bed staring at the ceiling. All she had in her mind was how the next day would be spent, considering the fact that it was her birthday. Ever since she left the orphanage home, she has never celebrated her birthday, but she felt something strange about this year. As she lay drifting between the land of the living and the trance world, her phone went tanana.

"Hello, Rose here."

"Rose dear, could you come down to the orphanage. We've got something for you."

Several years after leaving the orphanage, she hadn't heard from them all these while and they suddenly call and want to see her. Seemed a little strange to her, but she didn't have much of a choice. She took her bath, put on some nice cloths and headed out for the orphanage home.

"Nice of you to honor our invitation. Please have a sit."

"Aunt Mary, why am I really here?"

"Rose dear, there's a woman here who claims to be your mother, and she has some strong proof as well."

The words hit her hard, it took her a while to actually process what she just heard, and a longer while to come up with a suitable reply. Should she be happy for finally getting to meet her true mother, or should she pound on her for abandoning her all those years. All she could come up with was;

"What?"

"We know this might come as a shock to you, this is why we are willing to take things as slow as you want."

"I'm sorry Aunt Mary, I have to leave now. I'll contact you when I'm ready for this."

Rose stood up and walked out of the office keeping her eyes straight, she couldn't get her self to look at The woman that claimed to be her mother.
