The withered tree// The Inkwell Writing Prompt

"This land is cursed" Alfred whispered to Adams who was struggling to drag his luggage into a cave.

"I don't feel the same way," Adams replied.

"You need to see this," Alfred said, pointing in the direction of a tree with withered leaves even though it was summer.

"This is strange," Adams said in shock. "Let's go closer," he suggested.

It's been six months and six days since Alfred and Adams traveled to the forest in Bahamas walking from one hill to another in search of a leaf said to have some medicinal benefits. It was during this journey they decided to stop at a cave far west of the Bahamas to have some rest.

"There are more strange things about this tree," Adams said, looking at the direction of the sun. "It's noon, yet the shadow of this tree is casted far right, this land is not safe". They had come to the cave with the intention of resting for some days and became worried about the land they had settled.

"This is a good thing to research on" Alfred said, "we may not have found the leaf but fetching out a mystery about this tree would be a good thing to write on" he added.

Reluctantly Adams accepted. It was observed that the tree casted multiple of iyt shadow toward the direction of the sun instead of the opposite direction..

"It had been this way since I was a child" a 90.year old man told them

" We were told of a tree whose leaf is said to have some medicinal benefits capable of healing 99 sickness" Adams said

"This is it, but in other to get it produce leaves, you'll have to hinder it from casting it's shadow for a few days"

"That's I'mpossible " Alfred said,

"Then it's also impossible to get a leaf capable of healing 99 sicknesses, almost impossible things always come with almost impossible solutions, " the old man said, letting out a short laugh. The land was a barren land, no tree had grown there except the one withered tree, they had come to the end of their search, but realized it was an impossible mission. They had traveled all the way to the Bahamas only to find a tree that had survived drought and needed the absence of sunlight to produce leaves.

"If truly a shade is all it needs, we'll build a house around it" Adam said.

They resolved to return, but this time they hope to fetch the tree's leaves and begin their medical research
