A father who was no father.....Inheritance, Ink Well Prompt #48

Grandpa Dan wasn't close to any of his children. He lived a life away from his family. Grandma Susan took up the responsibility of taking of the children and making sure they are fed, clothed, housed, and schooled.

Grandma Susan took up this burden with an open mind. She understood her children needed all of her support and she gave them all she got.

Taking good care of 6 children selflessly is something I admire about her. I do not think I have met a woman that is as strong as she is.

Grandfather, had no interest in the life of his family. He made ends meet through his teaching job. He was a man of affluence. Neither of the proceeds from his work went to support his household.

I had no idea which part of the world he originated from. I still can't imagine how a father would watch his children grow without him in the picture. There was no fatherly care, support, and attention.

This made his children dependent on their mom for everything. They never respected grandpa nor wanted anything to do with him when they grew up.

The family was broken and no one wanted to fix it. Everyone treated him with contempt and pretended as though he didn't exist.

The fact that Grandpa spend his entire life alone, no one knew of his possession nor the hideout of his Wealth. He hid everything so well that when he died no one inherited any of his money. It couldn't be traced. It vanished into thin air the way he made every other thing vanish while he was alive.

The other thing left was his books. This was the only inheritance he left behind. His grandchildren who loved reading took all of the books in remembrance of a father who was no father to anyone.

Now, everyone is expecting to have a share in the inheritance of grandmother's wealth. Somehow, I have a feeling their expectations will be cut off too. Just saying.

PS: This writing sucks in my opinion. I dreaded writing this because I couldn't come up with something good enough. I had to do it to keep the promise I made to @samsmith1971. I hope the inkwell community offers some suggestions to help me improve better. 🥺. Thank you.
