“You know I’ll never leave you right?”

Jasmine was used to hearing this from her husband Jake but some days it didn’t feel like much to her because she would often let the voice in her head control her.

She and Jake had been married for almost 10 years and even though most people would say that they were made for each other, there was one thing missing that she felt would seal their love and it was a child.

You see, when they got married, they were both 23 years old so they felt like they had time to enjoy themselves before trying to have a child and when they finally decided that it was time, the children weren’t forthcoming.

They ran a lot of tests together and the doctors would repeatedly tell them that there was nothing wrong but that wasn’t an answer Jasmine wanted to hear, she wanted children and something had to be wrong for her not to have them.

She would often spend hours in the park just to see other mothers with their children and when she would go home, she would lock herself in the bathroom crying and wondering why her case had to be different.

Regardless of everything going on, Jake was still happy, he didn’t care because he always said that children were a gift from God so even when his family would question him, he would always shut them down but with the holiday season approaching he knew that spending time with his family which they always did would mess around with Jasmine's head but even when he tried to convince her that they should spend this year's holiday alone, she refused.

“You truly want them to hate me, I didn’t give you a child and now I want to steal you for the holidays”

“Jasmine, you do know that we don’t always have to spend the holidays with my family right, we can start a tradition all alone”

“All alone doing what exactly, what is the point of being all alone without children, please tell me”

Jake knew that continuing this conversation would lead to her bursting into tears and he hated seeing her cry so he apologized hoping that it would end the argument which it did.

A few days before Christmas, they set off on their trip to his family house, and he spent hours before assuring her that no matter what happened, “he would never leave her” but he doubted that she was even listening to him.

They got to his family house and drama started almost immediately when his mother introduced him to another woman saying that she wanted him to marry the woman because she felt that he was married to “a man”.

Jake couldn’t help himself but be furious and he instantly told his mother that he would never leave Jasmine but his mother went behind his back and told Jasmine that Jake agreed to marry someone else which broke Jasmine's heart and without confronting Jake, she ran off.

She spent hours wandering around his hometown and on getting to a Christmas shop, she heard a voice speak to her.

“Hey nice lady, do you have spare change?”

Looking down she saw a lady that looked like she was homeless and without thought, she gave the lady all her money and was about to walk away when the lady said “I hope your Christmas wishes come to pass”, after the lady said that, all the lights in the Christmas shop went off and came back on.

She felt dizzy instantly but shook it off and walked back to Jake’s family house and on getting there, she found Jake outside pacing, he told her that he was worried, clarified the situation with his mother, and assured her that he would never leave her no matter what.

They spent the remaining part of the holidays somewhat peaceful and when it was time to leave, Jasmine fainted and had to be rushed to a hospital.

She had tests conducted on her and after a few hours, the doctor returned with a smile on his face saying to them

"Well, congratulations, you are pregnant".
