My Wrong Wish At The Right Time

Mum and dad left me at an early age, I had to grow up under the care of my foster parents who I could say they did their best to raise me. They were the kindest beings I've ever met since my parents left but I was yet to find out who they really were.

Why did they chose to adopt me? I've once asked myself but didn't think hard about it since it was possible for it to have been a coincidence too. But I thought wrong, they had ulterior motive which I realized rather too late.

I became 20 and they asked me to follow them to see a young man at a law firm, I followed as the obedient girl I was with a smile that I always had on. I signed the documents without reading since they had said it was to renew an adoption agreement.

My foster parents smiled happily at me after I signed, I felt fulfilled to have made them that happy... It had always been my wish. Just a few days before that day, I was asked what my one Wish would be if I had one and I said it was to see my foster parents happy especially because of me.

They were not able to have their own kids, I had to be a perfect daughter for them which I believed I did all my best to be for them. They didn't have much to be called rich people but they had enough to take care of their only daughter.

I was given whatever I wanted as a girl, I didn't get to feel what it was like to not have parents because they did their best to give me the life my parents would have given to me. In a conclusive way, I'll say my life with my Foster parents was real and amazing... Too good to be a fake.

I was at school preparing for my mid test when I got a call from my dad that mum fell sick and was in the hospital. I ran off to the hospital and was told that she is too sick for me to see her... Dad asked me to go stay at Grandmum's place in another city, a place I had never been before. Dad tried explaining it to me but I wasn't in the right state of mind to get all he said, he decided ask his right hand man to take me to Grandmum's place.

I followed the man in tears and a few of my things, he had asked me to sit at the front of the car and I obeyed without being observant enough... I trusted my dad and same goes with his right hand man. We kept going until we got to a lonely way and he stopped, forcefully dragged me out of the car and drove off leaving me at a nowhere.

I stood for about twenty minutes looking lost and trying to understand what had happened... It felt too real to imagine I was wrong of what was happening. I decided to walk back to where we came from with the hope of finding our home even though I didn't know the way back.

It was night already and I decided to rest at a bus stop I saw, I thought it would be safe there till the next day. Just as I was about to fall asleep, I heard mum's voice.. My real mum's voice.

My baby girl, I'm sorry you have to know this way but those people who took care of you had taken all your inheritance... The main reason they had adopted you.

I understood immediately why all that happened had happened, I assured my mum that I would get all my inheritance back no matter what. Mum left me with a smile I thought wasn't a genuine one.

I'm 60 now with my husband and children, I didn't get my inheritance from my foster parents because I had made a wrong wish to make them happy... My inheritance was the one thing to make them happy.

I am doing well now but I still think I made a wrong wish at the right time. Aside that, I'm happy with my own true family.

Thanks for reading!!!
