Hello everyone, Lester here! It's time again for Splinterlands Share Your Battle Weekly Challenge! How's your recent battles? Good? Bad? Meh? While you're not sure yet on what is your next strategy, check out my entry to SHARE YOUR BATTLE Weekly Challenge! CRUEL SETHROPOD.

Cruel Sethropod

Let's take a run down first of this card's lore and stats.

Edition: CHAOS LEGION
Rarity: COMMON
Element: WATER
Attack: MELEE
Abilities: None

Sailors tell many tales of the dangers of the Cruel Sethropods. Armed with strong pincers and teeth as sharp as spears, they attack anything that gets within range. It is nearly impossible to remove a Cruel Sethropod once it has latched on, and many a sailor has the scars to show where they ventured too close. (Cruel Sethropod Lore)

Line Up

Here is the line-up I used in this battle challenge. In this battle, the rulesets are Little League and Heal Out.The mana cap is 15 only and this gives me limited monster units to be used in this battle. The only inactive element to be used is Life.

Ruleset/s

Only Monsters & Summoners that cost 4 Mana or less may be used in battles.
All healing abilities are removed from Monsters and Summoners.

Card Position

Summoner: Kelya Frendul
Since monsters and summoners of 4 mana or less can only be used in this ruleset, I used Kelya to add additional defense to my monsters. The additional Speed is also a plus, monsters with higher speed attack first. The level of my summoner is 2 which means it can summon my Cruel Sethropod at Level 3.
Position 1: Furious Chicken
The ruleset also has very limited mana cap which is 15, so as much as possible I need to use zero mana cards to serve as additional defense/offense on my team. I put Furious Chicken to Position 1 to act as shield for my Cruel Sethropod.
Position 2: Cruel Sethropod
This card is my main tank here. I predicted that Furious Chicken will die first and then Cruel Sethropod will become my tank at position 1. It has a nice 3 Armor and 4 HP at level 3. It also has a good amount of Melee Attack considering that the mana cost of this card is only 3. Considering Kelya's +1 Armor, it is a good card to be used in Little League ruleset.
Position 3: Torrent Fiend
Another zero mana cost card that I used is the Torrent Fiend. It has 1 Melee Attack and can still do damage when Cruel Sethropod die. It is so that my Kulu Swimhunter in Position 4 can still attack.
Position 4: Kulu Swimhunter
My card in position 3 is the Kulu Swimhunter which is a range monster. It has a nice 2 Range Attack and can do massive damage at the cost of 4 mana only. It also has a good amount of HP to withstand back line attackers from the enemy.
Position 5: Pelacor Bandit
My back line attacker is Pelacor Bandit. It has Sneak ability and a good amount of Speed. It also has Flying ability that may cause enemy to miss their melee or range attack. I also used a Level 3 to maximize the level cap of my summoner.
Position 6: Chaos AgentMy card in Position 6 is Chaos Agent which has Dodge ability at Level 3. I put this card in the last position to defend my line from Sneak attackers and hoping that their attack will miss.

Battle

The enemy used Dragon+Death line up which adds +1 Armore to friendly monsters. There are 2 cards with magic attack and 1 card with sneak ability.

As predicted, my Furious Chicken was defeated in Round 1 because even though it has +1 armor, the enemy's magic attackers easily defeated my Furious Chicken. After this round, my Cruel Sethropod will be placed in Position 1.

In Round 4, my line up already defeated the front line cards that shielded the enemy's Life Sapper. I think the strategy of my opponent is to accumulate enough HP for Life Sapper using its Life Leech ability. At this point, my Pelacor Bandit already defeated another attacker from the enemy which is the Death Elemental.

In Round 5, Life Sapper defeated my Cruel Sethropod. It's armor does not really contribute in this battle because the enemy has magic attack. But because it has enough HP to tank incoming damage, my attackers had enough time to do damage to the opponent and win this battle.

Did your strategy work?

Yes, my strategy worked and I won the battle. Cruel Sethropod's base HP at level 3 did a good job protecting my attackers even though the enemy has magic attackers. Also, even though Kelya's armor does not contribute much, the +1 Speed is a win. Cruel Sethropod's damage and speed created an opening for my other attackers to defeat Life Sapper. Overall, this is a good much having the Little League Ruleset.

What will you try differently next time?

With the same Ruleset and low mana cap, I think I will still use the same line up. I might consider adding more range attackers if the enemy has Mylor Cowling. I might also add Scavo Hireling to repair Cruel Sethropod's armor.
