An Exotic Look in the Concrete Jungle

As I was strolling through the Escandón neighborhood of Mexico City, adjacent to the one I live in, I came across a hidden beauty. It's a mural of a forest scene, complete with large leaves, colorful birds and flowers, and a young woman with exotic bangs and a mesmerized look on her face. It was not easy to get a good look at it, and even harder to capture it in a photo, because the wall this piece of art is painted on does not face the street, but some rooftop balcony, hidden behind terrace roofs and the constantly overloaded electrical poles, a typical feature of the city.

The exact location of this mural is Antonio Maceo street, close to its intersection with Carlos B. Zetina. I remember there being a café of some sorts, but now that I look at the map it looks more like it is part of a book store. However, the map can be deceiving, since most labels no longer apply. The mural on the other hand is fairly recent, whether it was painted for the book store, or for whomever that balcony belongs to.

As for the artist's identifying tag... here it is! I'm not going to try to decipher it, but anyone who's interested can look it up.

This post is part of the CCC Street Art Contest. Check it out for some awesome street art from around the world, or post your own to win some sweet prizes.

If you want to see more murals from where I live, take a look at my ongoing Mexican Murals series.

UPDATE: After visiting the location again, it turns out that there is no bookstore, only a dog-grooming place and a small café, none of which have to do with the mural. It's most likely part of the residential terraces.
