Well Hivers I’ve been waiting for over a week for my new DJI Mini 3 to turn up and on Saturday i talked to DHL in Exeter where it’s been sitting since last Monday 😡send still no defiant delivery so I went to pick it up this morning.
I have been waiting for a few months for the stand alone drone to be released anyway so a few more days didn’t make a lot of difference.
But finally here it is the much talked about DJI mini 3 Pro in sub 250 Gram config.
Much like the Mini 2 it comes covered in transit stickers that need to be removed before flight. Unfortunately I missed was the lump of black rubber foam behind the camera gimble so I had a load of gimble stuck error messages when it started it up.
It is a title bigger than the Mini 2 and feels a bit more fragile bit it is a lot of drone in a small package.
It took a little while to pair up the first time with my RC N1 controller and it does get a bit warm as,there is no internal fan, when doing the updates but my fan tower that I printed for the mini 2 doesn’t fit so there it’s a bit of a rethink needed.
Weight wise it is very close to the 250 gram limit too close in fact to get a high viability skin like my mini 2 and keep it under the 250gram limit. It’s a real pity they don’t make it in orange I’d have more chance of seeing it.
One thing that is another missing is the prop keeper that comes with the Mini 2
which stops the props catching on other things when you put it in a bag. So I guess I’ll look around for a third party one.
Well thats all for now there are a bunch of firmware updates to do before I can go and fly the beast.
